Activision may have just given Crash Bandicoot fans a reason to get excited as they may have leaked a version of Crash Team Rumble for the Nintendo Switch. While the multiplayer party game is set to launch on most other modern gaming platforms, the Switch has been left out - until now. This comes as Crash Bandicoot has experienced a resurgence in popularity in recent years, thanks to the success of the remake of the original Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and the release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. However, fans of party games on the Switch have been unable to enjoy the franchise, but that might be about to change.
The leak discovered on Activision's website has left fans questioning whether it was an unintentional reveal or just a mistake. On the support page for Crash Team Rumble, Activision advised players to update their systems before installing the game, not only for PlayStation and Xbox platforms but also providing instructions for Nintendo Switch users.
However, soon after fans noticed this message, the page was edited, and the mention of the Switch version was removed. Without any official confirmation from Activision or Toys for Bob, it remains uncertain whether this was a mere error or an early reference to a forthcoming Nintendo Switch release. Considering that the game is compatible with PS4 and Xbox One, it's reasonable to assume that the Switch possesses enough power to handle the game. Moreover, as the Switch has already seen the release of recent Crash Bandicoot titles, there is an established playerbase that would likely show interest in the game, providing additional incentive to bring it to the hybrid system.
Crash Team Rumble is set to release on June 20, 2023, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. As for a potential release on the Nintendo Switch, players will have to wait and see. While it is common for games to have simultaneous launches across multiple platforms, there are instances where certain games arrive on the Switch later than its competitors. The developers of Crash Team Rumble are aiming to appeal to younger and newer gamers, which aligns well with the playerbase of the Nintendo Switch. Even if there are currently no plans for a Switch version, it is hoped that Activision and Toys for Bob take notice of the enthusiastic response from fans and consider introducing a Switch version in the near future.
