Controversial 4th of July Bundle Sparks Outrage Among Call of Duty Fans

Call of Duty fans express discontent over the new 4th of July bundle, citing concerns about its striking resemblance to a previous cosmetics package

The latest July 4th bundle for Call of Duty features a weapon blueprint that closely resembles one previously sold in Warzone, causing dissatisfaction among potential buyers. While each new installment of Call of Duty typically offers its own distinctive cosmetics, it appears that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone are drawing inspiration from past releases. Numerous updates have been introduced to Call of Duty: Warzone since its initial launch in 2020, introducing multiple skins for the original version and several for the newly released Warzone last year.

The July 4th weapon blueprint in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone was recently showcased by Charlie Intel. They shared a clip and image depicting a vibrant weapon blueprint in red, white, blue, and gold. The clip featured a Call of Duty soldier loading and firing the weapon to showcase its impressive sparkler effect. However, despite the visually appealing bundle, it has been noted that the weapon blueprint is almost identical to one previously sold by Activision in the original Warzone, with only very minor changes. As a result, some players who have already purchased the older bundle have expressed no interest in acquiring the slightly different version, despite the inclusion of unique items in the package.

Given the recent controversy surrounding the removal of the NICKMERCS bundle and the impending retirement of the original Warzone, the reoccurrence of the July 4th weapon blueprint may further upset some fans. With Activision frequently updating Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare 2, many members of the community are expressing frustration regarding this package. It is possible that the developer may release a patch in the future to differentiate it from the previously released blueprint, although no official announcement has been made at this time.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
