Uncertainty surrounds the future of the DC Universe, but a recent rumor suggests that Margot Robbie will continue to play Harley Quinn in the new superhero landscape.
According to industry insider Daniel RPK, there is a rumor that Robbie will once again take on her role as Harley Quinn. However, there has been no official confirmation yet. Given Robbie's successful portrayal of Harley Quinn, fans are excited to find out what her role will be in upcoming DC projects, possibly involving a romantic connection with Poison Ivy.
There is uncertainty surrounding the future of stars from recent films in James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC Universe. However, there is hope that a beloved fan favorite may have a secure place in this new superhero landscape.
After concluding his work on Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy films, Gunn is fully dedicated to the DC universe. Although recent DC releases have been under the previous leadership, such as The Flash and Blue Beetle, which were in production before Gunn and Safran assumed their roles, they are not dismissing the possibility of future films like Blue Beetle. Their primary focus, however, is on bringing their fresh vision to the studio. Nevertheless, there remains a chance for the return of some beloved characters.
Daniel RPK, a reputable industry insider, recently tweeted that Margot Robbie will reprise her role as Harley Quinn in the new DCU. Although there has been no official confirmation, RPK has a track record of breaking news before it becomes official. Interestingly, this is not the first rumor circulating about Robbie's involvement in the DCU. Director James Gunn previously dismissed false information about Robbie and has a tendency to address inaccurate rumors. It remains to be seen if Gunn will provide further clarification on this matter.
The role that Robbie's Harley Quinn would play in the DCU is currently uncertain. Future projects have not mentioned the character, leaving the possibilities wide open. However, there is support for a Harley and Poison Ivy romance on the big screen, with Robbie herself expressing interest and many fans backing the idea. The Harley Quinn series on Max, which prominently features the pairing, has received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Robbie has already portrayed the character three times, with her appearances in Suicide Squad (2016), Birds of Prey (2020), and The Suicide Squad (2021). Fans are already familiar with the chaotic and wonderful energy she brings to the role.
Robbie consistently delivers enjoyable performances in the projects she takes on, even finding moments of laughter while filming Greta Gerwig's Barbie. Therefore, it would be a logical choice to bring her back as Harley Quinn. However, it's important to note that this is currently just a rumor, so it should be approached with caution.
