Confirmed: Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition Revealed Following Gameplay Leak

Ubisoft surprises fans with the official announcement of Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition after a leaked playable version briefly appeared on Ubisoft+ on November 28 Get ready to dive back into this beloved game with updated features and celebrate its two-decade legacy

Ubisoft+ surprised fans by releasing Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition on November 28, before the official announcement. The remastered action-adventure game is set to launch early next year. The Beyond Good & Evil Twitter account confirmed that players had stumbled upon an "early development version" of the game on Ubisoft+. Eurogamer also witnessed a 30-minute preview of the game and noted the brief appearance of a listing for the 20th Anniversary Edition on the Xbox Store, which mentioned enhanced graphics, controls, and audio, as well as new autosave and cross-save features.

Ubisoft will be sharing more details about the game in 2024. The Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition was leaked after an ESRB rating appeared in August. It was mentioned that the remaster would launch on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. However, none of those platforms have been confirmed yet.

Beyond Good & Evil was released in November 2003, coinciding with the release of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time on PS2. Our Website's Jeff Gerstmann wrote a review of Beyond Good & Evil, stating that "While the game's repetitive nature and short length take away from its overall impact, Beyond Good & Evil is a fantastic-looking game that tells its story well."

A sequel was first announced in 2008 before a reimagined prequel eventually appeared at E3 2017. Sadly, Beyond Good & Evil 2's creative director Emile Morel died earlier this year.
