Christine and Janelle Brown shut down Robyn Brown’s claim that she “speaks Kody” the best on part 2 of Sister Wives: 1-on-1.
During the December 3 episode of the Sister Wives season 18 tell-all, Robyn, 45, expressed her understanding of Kody, saying, "I think I get Kody pretty well. Like, I feel like I understand him." She also noted that she believes Kody's exes, Christine, 51, Janelle, 54, and Meri Brown, all have the capacity to speak Kody, as Meri, 52, put it on the show. "He could be misunderstood very easily because he says everything that’s in his head. Most people filter it. He doesn’t," Robyn said of her 54-year-old husband. "But I think that it’s hard for other people to understand."
Christine and Janelle are confident that they understand their ex-husband perfectly, despite their split in November 2021 and Janelle's confirmation in December 2022 that they had been separated for several months. In a recent episode, Christine expressed disbelief at Robyn's claim that she can speak Kody, saying, "I have known Kody for a long time, and I can actually read Kody pretty well. And I can speak Kody well, too."
Christine, who has six children with Kody, claimed that Robyn had convinced them all that she could speak for Kody and mediate their relationships. She alleged that Robyn made all the wives feel like she was a necessary part of their relationships because she could communicate with Kody in a way they couldn't.
Janelle shared similar feelings as Christine about Robyn being the go-between for Kody. "I don't really feel the need for someone to translate for me. We've been married for a long time and managed just fine without you," Janelle admitted. "I believe I understand Kody. But she likes to position herself as the one who does."
Janelle also alleged that Robyn has used that line on her six children, saying, "I speak Kody." Janelle expressed annoyance with this, stating, "Well, Kody can speak for himself. He's a grown man." Janelle Plays Coy About Her and Kody’s Sex Life
Janelle revealed to host Sukanya Krishnan that there was unquestionably a physical connection, emphasizing that sex played a role in her bond with Kody. "I'm not one to go broadcasting that," she said. "I'll allude to it. But everything was really great in that aspect."
Since the pair have gone their separate ways, Janelle expressed, “I don’t believe he’s holding onto hope, longing for me. He has never truly approached me and expressed, ‘I truly adore you and I genuinely want to make this work.’ Not, like, in that profoundly deep, intimate manner.”

Wives Claim They Had to ‘Earn’ Kody’s Love
Janelle reflected on her relationship with Kody after nearly 30 years together, expressing, "He made me feel like I had to change and be less independent in order to earn his love. But I don't believe in having to earn a relationship."
Christine also had a similar experience with Kody before their 2021 split, revealing, "I always felt like I had to do things a certain way to earn his love and acceptance. I didn't realize how much pressure I was under. Kody had very specific preferences, and I would often go out of my way to accommodate him to make my home comfortable for him."
Meri, who confirmed her separation from Kody in January after more than 30 years together, revealed that her ex was very specific about many things. “He would request me to do things and expect me to act in a certain way or to resolve the situation or share certain information with him, all in an effort to improve our relationship,” she explained. “And I did everything he asked of me. But it still wasn’t enough. ... You’re wondering if loyalty was sufficient? It wasn’t for him.”

Kody Says He Will ‘Always Love’ Meri
Kody expressed his commitment to Meri, stating, "I told her I loved her and I made the choice to be romantic." Despite Meri's belief that he was head over heels for her, Kody clarified that he was always a positive person who affirmed what he wanted. He admitted that their marriage started with a very romantic experience but also acknowledged the presence of dysfunction over the years.
In another part of the episode, he declared, "I will always have love for her. But being in a romantic relationship with her is not safe for me. No matter what excuses you come up with, I won't badmouth her because it's just sad and heartbreaking that it didn't work out."
In the end, Kody admitted that anything he says will reopen old wounds for Meri, and he doesn't want to do that. "I care about her and want her to be happy, but I don't believe that she and I can sustain a marriage relationship," he concluded.

Meri Shares the Full Wedding Ring Story
Earlier, we provided a special preview of Christine disclosing that Kody had melted down his 1990 wedding band from Meri shortly after Robyn joined the family in 2010. In the footage, Meri expressed her "frustration" over Christine sharing such a personal memory with viewers without her consent.
In the most recent episode, Meri reluctantly shared the full story of Kody's decision to stop wearing his wedding ring. She described how he didn't believe it was fair for her to have a claim on him, and to symbolize this, he melted down the ring. This act left Meri emotional as she questioned if he had symbolically destroyed their entire relationship in that moment. Asking if she could keep the ring, she was devastated to hear that it had been melted down because he didn't want her to have any claim on him. Overall, it was a very painful situation for her.
Robyn, on her part, asserted that Kody melting his ring from Meri had no connection to her joining the family. "No, he had done that before I came along, OK. It wasn't when I came into the family," she insisted. "It was way before that because he wasn't wearing a wedding ring when I met him."

Kody’s 3rd Ring
After melting down his first wedding band, Kody was given a Claddagh ring by his then-wives as a symbol of their love, loyalty, and friendship. Janelle revealed to Us in November that all the wives wore one and it was meant to be passed down to their daughters as an heirloom.
During season 18, Meri noticed Kody wearing another new band and assumed it was from Robyn. Kody explained on the tell-all that he found his current ring and decided to switch rings after realizing that certain relationships were over.
