Nick Offerman, known for his role on Parks and Rec, shared a surprising story during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on April 17. He recounted a time in his teenage years when he was mistakenly arrested and ended up in jail. This is a story he has never told his parents.
One night in California, some friends and I were smoking marijuana behind a community theater. Suddenly, we saw flashlights approaching along the creek where we were hanging out. As we realized it was the police, we started to tiptoe away. They began to chase us, and we made the wise decision to run.
During the pursuit, they tackled us and a tough, diminutive woman, who I suspect may have been Holly Hunter, had her boot on my head and her gun pointed at me. It was a tense moment, to say the least.
Later on, Offerman found out that he and his friends were mistaken for robbers who had stolen a significant amount of cash from a nearby restaurant. The whole incident turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.
The group of innocent theater kids spent the night in jail after being mistaken for thieves by the cops. They were finally released the next morning when the police realized their mistake. To add to the chaos, one of the friends had marijuana on him during their time in custody.
Offerman shared a memorable experience where he smoked marijuana in Urbana in front of the sheriff's station after retrieving it from his crotch. He recalled the moment with humor, emphasizing the absurdity of the situation.
In a recent interview with The Independent, Offerman discussed his past love for marijuana and his decision to quit. He expressed that his life has reached a point of happiness where he no longer feels the need to smoke. Offerman credited his wife, Megan Mullally, for playing a significant role in his choice to give up the habit, although he mentioned that he still keeps a stash at home as a precaution.
Offerman shared that there is an irony in his decision to stop using marijuana. He explained, "When I used to rely on marijuana to escape reality, I couldn't access high-quality products. But now that I have the means to afford the best pot, I no longer have the desire to use it."
