Extraction 2 star Chris Hemsworth has expressed his interest in continuing Tyler Rake's story in a possible Extraction 3. The first movie was a smash hit in 2020, and Hemsworth is set to return as Rake, a black ops mercenary, for a new adventure in Netflix's upcoming sequel. Director Sam Hargrave will also be returning, with the sequel taking place in winter-time Eastern Europe as Rake goes up against Georgian gangsters during a snatch-and-grab mission.
In an interview with Total Film (via GamesRadar) ahead of Extraction 2's release next month, Hemsworth revealed his hope that the franchise will become a trilogy. He expressed his love for a more grounded storytelling world and character, especially after playing Thor in the MCU for so long. Hemsworth stated, "I love it. I love playing the character. I love this world. I love having something else outside of Marvel that’s amassed a bit of a following, something more in the real world. I honestly feel like we made a better film than the first one. That’s rare in the franchise world. We’d be remiss not to have a crack at another one."
Hargrave is optimistic about the potential for the franchise to expand and explore new territory. He expresses excitement for the possibility of a new adventure for Tyler Rake, depending on the response and demand from audiences. While he has an idea for the next installment, he remains tight-lipped about any details.
