Cheryl Burke is clarifying things about a TikTok video she made about a cheating ex and "Viagra."

On the "Amy and T.J" podcast episode aired on Thursday, April 18, Burke, 39, confessed that only half of the content in that particular post was true.

When cohost T.J. Holmes asked the former Dancing With the Stars pro- pro which part of the post was accurate, Burke played coy.

Burke joked that back then she only had about five followers, so she didn't think her post would get much attention. She then humorously mentioned that she gained a lot of new followers after she uploaded it.

In August 2022, Burke posted a TikTok video where she appeared upset. She mentioned finding text messages, viagra, and a necklace hidden in her partner's shoes despite him promising not to speak to another woman.

Burke expressed her final decision in the caption, saying goodbye forever. She used hashtags like #exessucks, #thelasttime, and #hopeitwasworthit to convey her emotions.

While Burke did not specify which ex she was talking about in her post, many on social media quickly assumed it was her ex-husband Matthew Lawrence. (It was confirmed earlier that Burke had filed for divorce from Lawrence, 44, in February 2022 after almost three years of marriage.)

Burke was surprised by how fans immediately assumed it was about Lawrence based on her video. "I want to clarify something, I have had more than one ex-boyfriend," she mentioned on Thursday.

Amy Robach pointed out that Burke did not mention any names, to which Burke emphatically responded, "No!"

On the other hand, Holmes was skeptical that Burke did not anticipate her fans targeting Lawrence. Holmes, 46, expressed, "But you must have known how everyone would interpret your post," to which Burke insisted she did not. Holmes questioned, "You really didn't anticipate that, Cheryl?"

Burke mentioned that she has had relationships with people in the past before Lawrence. She added, “I'm not referring to just one person - maybe I'm not even referring to anyone at all.” She also mentioned, “Perhaps I'm just thinking, 'This could create some buzz, let's see if we can stir up some controversy and gain more followers.'”

Holmes playfully teased that he "fell for it," to which Burke responded, "It's all in good fun. Not everything I say or post is meant to be taken seriously."

Following her breakup with Lawrence, Burke shared exclusively with Us that she is focusing on her own happiness before considering reentering the dating scene.

In February 2023, she mentioned, "I mean when it comes, it comes. I’m not forcing anything." She also added, "I think at the end of the day, I’m just focusing on me and dating myself." She encouraged others to try and practice self-love, acknowledging that it might be a little harder.

Editor's P/S:

Cheryl Burke's recent TikTok video stirred up controversy, leading her to clarify its contents on a podcast. While she initially claimed that only half of the post was true, she later revealed that it might not have been referring to any specific ex-boyfriend. Burke emphasized that she had multiple exes and aimed to create buzz with the video, potentially attracting more followers. This explanation has left some fans questioning her motives, but Burke maintains that her posts should not always be taken seriously.

Burke's comments highlight the importance of context and intention in online communication. It can be challenging to convey emotions and experiences accurately in a brief format like TikTok, and viewers may interpret messages differently. Furthermore, the desire for attention and engagement on social media can sometimes overshadow the accuracy or authenticity of content. Burke's experience serves as a reminder to consider the potential consequences and interpretations of our online actions, particularly when it comes to sensitive or personal topics.
