Cassie recently spoke out about the video showing her ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly assaulting her at a hotel in Los Angeles.
In a statement shared on Instagram on Thursday, May 23, Cassie expressed her gratitude for the support she has received. She acknowledged that the love she has received has helped her find a sense of safety for her younger self. However, she emphasized that this is just the beginning of her healing journey. Cassie bravely addressed the issue of domestic violence, revealing how it had a profound impact on her and changed her in ways she never expected. Despite the challenges she has faced, Cassie shared that she is in a better place today, but acknowledges that she is still on a journey of recovery from her past experiences.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to address this matter seriously. My only request is for EVERYONE to listen and believe victims from the start. It takes courage to speak the truth about a situation where you felt helpless.
I want to offer my support to those who are still living in fear, and I am grateful to those who have stood by me throughout this.
Celebrities from various industries have shown their support for Cassie since the release of the video. Many more have spoken out in support after she posted her statement.
Diddy, 54, apologized for his actions in a video shared on social media on Sunday, May 19. However, he did not mention Cassie by name at any point.
Meredith Firetog, a partner at Wigdor LLP and member of Cassie’s legal team, criticized Combs’ video statement for being more focused on himself rather than acknowledging the harm he has caused to many people. She pointed out that when Cassie and other women spoke out against him, he initially denied the allegations and insinuated that they were just seeking financial gain. It was only after his lies were exposed that he felt compelled to issue a half-hearted apology, which Firetog described as a desperate and insincere attempt to save face. She emphasized that his words have not convinced anyone of his sincerity.
Many notable figures have come forward to show their support for Cassie in the wake of this controversy.
Alex Fine
Cassie’s husband, personal trainer and entrepreneur Fine, wrote an open letter addressed to “women and children” in which he discussed the video and domestic violence at large.
Men who use violence against women are not real men. Men who support and defend these abusers are not real men either. It is important for men to speak up against violence towards women and to hold each other accountable. Our daughters, sisters, mothers, and wives deserve to feel safe and loved. It is crucial to treat the women in our lives with the utmost respect. Those who hurt women are filled with hatred.
To all the survivors, seek out those who offer help and love. Your stories are valid, and there are people who believe you. Remember, you are not alone. There are individuals who genuinely care about your well-being and safety. We want to see you thrive and succeed. To all the women and children, I apologize that you live in a world where you do not feel protected or equal. I dream of raising my daughters in a world where they feel secure and cherished. As for the abusers, your time is up. You are no longer safe or protected. The people standing by your side are just as weak as you. You are so unhappy with yourself that even death would be seen as a kindness.
