Cassie's legal team has responded to Sean "Diddy" Combs' apology video after a video surfaced of him physically assaulting her in 2016.
Meredith Firetog, a partner at Wigdor LLP, commented on Combs' recent statement, noting that it seems to focus more on himself rather than the people he has hurt. She mentioned that when Cassie and other women initially came forward, he denied the allegations and even suggested that they were seeking financial gain. Only after his denials were proven false did he offer an apology, which Firetog described as insincere and desperate.
Earlier in the day, Diddy, aged 54, took to social media to express his deep regret for his unacceptable behavior. In a statement on Instagram, he acknowledged being in a troubled state and hitting rock bottom. Despite this, he made it clear that he was not making excuses for his actions. Instead, he took full responsibility for his behavior in the video that had surfaced. Diddy mentioned feeling disgusted and shared that he had sought professional help by attending therapy and rehab. He also mentioned turning to God for mercy and grace. While expressing his deep remorse, he emphasized his commitment to self-improvement every day, without seeking forgiveness from others.
Diddy did not mention Cassie, who is 37 years old, directly in his video or in response to any of the previous accusations against him.
CNN obtained security footage of the former couple on Friday, May 17. The video showed Diddy pushing and kicking Cassie in front of an elevator at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles. In the footage, Cassie, whose full name is Casandra Ventura, was walking towards the elevator wearing a hoodie and carrying a bag. Diddy was then seen running out of a hotel room after Cassie, with a towel around his waist and wearing socks.

Meeting Cassie at the elevator, Diddy pulled her down by the hood of her sweatshirt and kicked her. He then grabbed her bags and tried to drag her back to the room. Cassie got up and made a call on a hotel phone near the elevator.
Returning the bags to the room, Diddy went back to the elevator and pushed Cassie into a corner. He threw an object in her direction, but the video did not capture any sound.
Cassie's attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, stated in a message to Us on Friday that the disturbing video further confirms Mr. Combs' predatory behavior. He praised Cassie for her courage in coming forward to expose the truth.
The security camera footage supports Cassie's claims made in a lawsuit from November 2023, accusing Diddy of sexually assaulting her during their relationship from 2007 to 2018. The court documents described Cassie as a victim of sex trafficking, alleging the abuse occurred in various hotels and Diddy's residences nationwide. Diddy denied the accusations when they were initially made.

The case was resolved just one day after it was filed. Cassie shared with Us through Wigdor that she chose to settle the matter in a friendly way, with terms that she had some say in. She expressed gratitude to her family, fans, and legal team for their constant support.
Prior to having his homes searched by the Department of Homeland Security in March for a sex trafficking inquiry, Diddy had faced accusations of physical and sexual assault from multiple individuals.
Diddy’s attorney, Aaron Dyer, expressed concern about the excessive use of military-level force during the execution of search warrants at Mr. Combs’ residences on March 26. According to Dyer, the authorities displayed unnecessary hostility and an overwhelming show of force. He also highlighted the mistreatment of Mr. Combs’ children and employees during the incident.
Dyer emphasized that despite the allegations, there has been no evidence of criminal or civil wrongdoing on Mr. Combs’ part. He firmly stated that Mr. Combs is innocent and is determined to clear his name from any false accusations.
