Red, 36, expressed concern for her safety in an open letter to Diddy, 54, published by Rolling Stone on December 7. She hopes that by revealing her identity to the public, she will be afforded some protection. Red stated that she and Cassie, whose full name is Casandra Ventura, are still close friends, having first worked together on Cassie's unreleased second album in 2015. Red also mentioned that she is one of the friends referred to in Cassie's lawsuit, specifically relating to the night of Cassie's 29th birthday as detailed in the section labeled 'Mr. Combs Forces Ms. Ventura Into Sex Trafficking.'
Cassie, 37, filed a lawsuit against her ex last month, whom she dated off and on from 2007 to 2018, alleging rape, physical abuse, and coercion to take drugs. She also claimed he forced her to have sex on camera with "male sex workers." At the time, Diddy vehemently denied Cassie's allegations.
Red remembered meeting Diddy at Cassie’s 29th birthday party in Los Angeles. Diddy allegedly questioned her about the songs she and Cassie had been writing together, asking, "So you’re the one writing all these songs about me?” Red felt uncomfortable as it seemed like Diddy was talking about the more turbulent parts of his relationship with Cassie. Later, Red witnessed Diddy yelling at Cassie at karaoke. After the event, Cassie went out again with Diddy while Red and other friends spent the night at Cassie’s place.

After a couple of hours, I was abruptly awoken by [Diddy] yelling, 'Emotional singing bitch, where are you?!'" Red recounted, alleging that Diddy seemed intoxicated while Cassie appeared "sedated and very withdrawn."
Red recounted the terrifying encounter, expressing how Diddy angrily demanded that Cassie engage in sexual activity, leaving Red feeling traumatized and scared for Cassie. Later, Cassie disclosed to Red that she was required to partake in sexual acts with male sex workers on that night.
Despite enduring years of torment from that night and experiencing PTSD, paranoia, and anxiety as a result, Red finally feels liberated to tell her story after Cassie's lawsuit. "The power imbalance makes it nearly impossible to fight back and terrifying to speak up. But despite that, here I am, standing beside my friend," she wrote. "There are moments in life when some of us have to face the hard choice of speaking truth to power or not. This is one of those moments."

Cassie and Diddy reached a settlement on November 17, just one day after the lawsuit was filed. "It's important to note that settling a lawsuit, especially in 2023, does not imply any admission of guilt," stated Diddy's attorney Ben Brafman in a release to We last month. "Mr. Combs' choice to settle the lawsuit does not change his strong denial of the allegations in any way. He is pleased that they were able to reach a mutual agreement and wishes Ms. Ventura all the best."

Diddy has since been named in three other sexual assault lawsuits and has denied all the allegations against him.
"In a statement on Wednesday, December 6, the rapper declared, 'I have had enough.' 'For the past few weeks, I have remained silent as people have attempted to tarnish my reputation and legacy with baseless accusations. I want to make it crystal clear: I am innocent of the allegations being made against me. I will not stand by and allow my name and family to be dragged through the mud. I will fight to uphold the truth.'"
