Roma has reached an agreement with Chelsea for a one-season loan deal of striker Romelu Lukaku. Roma officials Ryan Friedkin and Tiago Pinto traveled to London for in-person negotiations over the weekend regarding Lukaku's transfer to the Italian capital for the season.
The clubs have recently reached a significant milestone, securing a straight loan deal for Lukaku, with an approximate loan fee of £8m. Following a controversial interview where he expressed his unhappiness under former head coach Thomas Tuchel, Lukaku spent the previous season on loan at Inter Milan after losing favor at Chelsea.
The striker expressed a strong interest in returning to Italy and specifically choosing Rome as his destination due to his eagerness to collaborate with manager Jose Mourinho once again. Earlier this summer, Juventus engaged in discussions with Chelsea regarding the acquisition of Lukaku, while Inter also displayed a keen interest in bringing the Belgian international back to Italy.
Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal were also interested in signing the 30-year-old, who signed for Chelsea from Inter for £97.5m in August 2021.
Bayern make contact over Chalobah
Bayern Munich have made initial contact with Chelsea over the signing of defender Trevoh Chalobah.
Chalobah is seen as a possible replacement for Benjamin Pavard. Inter Milan are also working on a deal to sign the French international.
If a deal can be agreed with Chelsea over Chalobah, the decision will rest with the player.
Chalobah has five years left on his contract with the option of a further 12 months.
Meanwhile, midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu is expected to stay part of the first team squad.
Chelsea were considering loaning him to Strasbourg for the season.
