Alongside new Lord of the Rings movies in collaboration with New Line, Warner Bros. also had plans for an anime adaptation called Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. Serving as a prequel, the film is set nearly two centuries before the events depicted in Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and recounts the story of Helm Hammerhand's heroic defense against an army of wild men from Dunland, ultimately earning him great renown.

While the release date for Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim was initially announced in February of last year, along with the unveiling of a first-look photo through concept art, the film's release has been pushed back. Warner Bros. made the decision to delay the highly anticipated Dune 2 due to the SAG strike, which prohibits actors from promoting their upcoming projects. As a result, Dune 2's release date was shifted from November 3, 2023, to March 15, 2024.
