EA will be shutting down the online services for Crysis 3, Dead Space 2, and Dante's Inferno later this year.
Developers often shut down servers for older games when new games are launched and the player base diminishes. However, even with the discontinuation of online services, players still have the option to buy and enjoy Crysis 3, Dead Space 2, and Dante's Inferno in offline mode.
Electronic Arts has officially announced that it will be discontinuing the online services for Crysis 3, Dead Space 2, and Dante's Inferno later this year. To keep players informed, EA maintains a comprehensive list of the dates when online support will be terminated for their older games. This enables players to be well-prepared and say their farewells to the multiplayer features of their beloved games in advance.
In March of this year, EA took the decision to close the online services of four additional games in their catalog, which included popular titles like Shadows of the Damned and Syndicate. The multiplayer mode for Medal of Honor games released in 2011, including Medal of Honor: Airborne and Medal of Honor: Warfighter, also came to a close with the shutdown of their servers. As new games are released, it is natural for the multiplayer community of older titles to dwindle and eventually reach a point where the servers are no longer sustainable. While it is always disheartening to witness this, it is a common practice for developers to reallocate their resources.
EA Games Shutting Down Soon List
EA has announced the closure dates for online services of three popular games: Crysis 3, Dead Space 2, and Dante's Inferno. Crysis 3, released in 2011, will have its online features shut down on September 7 for various platforms including PS3, Xbox consoles, Steam, and EA App. Dead Space 2, known as one of the best horror games for PS3, will see its online services discontinued on December 8 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Dante's Inferno, inspired by Dante Alighieri's La Divina Comedia, will also have its online components shut down on December 8 for PS3, PSP, and Xbox 360. Join the battle before it's too late!Crysis 3 - September 7
Dante's Inferno - December 8
Dead Space 2 - December 8
The three EA titles are included in the Xbox backward compatible games catalog. This means that in the future, players of modern Xbox consoles will no longer be able to access the online features of these games. However, Crysis 3, Dead Space 2, and Dante's Inferno can still be purchased for offline gameplay.
In 2021, Crysis 3 received a remaster, but it does not include an online mode. As for Dead Space 2, players can only speculate if EA will release a multiplayer remake following the success of the Dead Space remake. It's worth mentioning that Dante's Inferno has not received a sequel, although there has been interest expressed by some players.
