Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are the owners of the Wrexham football club, and Blake Lively is also actively involved. Kim Dutton, a midfielder for the Wrexham women's team, mentioned on the latest episode of Welcome to Wrexham that both Rob and Ryan provide their support to the club, while Blake Lively is a proud sponsor of the team.
In the sixth episode of the second season of the FX docuseries, the focus was on the Wrexham women's team. As described by McElhenney, they were truly dominating their opponents. During one intense moment, Reynolds and McElhenney were seen enthusiastically supporting the women's team. However, when one player scored a goal, Lively couldn't contain her excitement and she joyfully hugged her husband, Reynolds.
“It’s wonderful that they are providing us with such valuable support,” expressed Gemma Owen, head of operations for women’s football. “It truly integrates us, both as a team and as a division, within the club.”

Later, it is disclosed that Lively's brand, Betty Buzz, has been chosen as an official sponsor for the Wrexham women's team. The team's jerseys proudly display the brand's logo.
“We were unaware of the existence of a women’s team in Wrexham until we assumed ownership of the club and acknowledged the existing program,” shared McElhenney with the audience. “Similar to the men's team, they must win the league to advance and enter the professional ranks.”
In the episode, it is clarified that the women’s team does not receive payment due to the league they participate in. Nevertheless, Reynolds and McElhenney are optimistic about the team's promotion and their transition into a semi-professional status, which would allow the players to be compensated.
McElhenney expressed his discussions with Ryan regarding the prioritization of the program, acknowledging its shortcomings in the past. After witnessing the team's victory, he addressed the players, emphasizing their importance and the continued support they would receive. He also highlighted the advantage of their consistent success. Reynolds disclosed the team's top scorer, Rosie Hughes, emphasizing her importance to the overall performance of Wrexham. Both Reynolds and McElhenney affirmed their commitment to nurturing and expanding the women's team, acknowledging the task's challenges.
“It’s gonna be a real privilege and fun, but you know, we’ve got a long road ahead,” Reynolds said.
