According to public records, Bijou Phillips has initiated divorce proceedings against actor Danny Masterson, who has been facing multiple challenges. On Monday, Phillips filed a divorce petition in Santa Barbara. The couple got married in 2011 and have a daughter together.
Less than two weeks after Masterson was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for his conviction on two rape counts, Ms. Phillips has chosen to file for divorce from her husband. According to Peter Lauzon, Phillips' attorney, her main concern is her daughter. Lauzon stated in a Tuesday statement to CNN, "The marriage and the family have endured an incredibly difficult time during this period."
CNN has reached out to a legal representative for Masterson for comment.

Earlier this month, Phillips was present at Mastersons sentencing where he received the maximum "aggregate" penalty of 30 years to life in prison for the crimes, CNN reported at the time.
After being arrested in 2020, Masterson entered a not guilty plea to charges of raping three women at his residence in different instances from 2001 to 2003. Late in May, he was convicted of two counts of forcible rape, while the jury could not reach a unanimous decision on the third count. Despite being found guilty, Masterson continues to assert his innocence, with his attorney Shawn Holley announcing plans to appeal the verdict.
Masterson's trial brought renewed attention to his relationship with Phillips, who supported him throughout his legal difficulties but had not made any public statements regarding it. According to reports, they first encountered each other in 2005 during a celebrity poker match in Las Vegas and later tied the knot in 2011. Their daughter, Fianna, arrived in 2014.
Phillips, a renowned model and actress, is the offspring of John Phillips, the distinguished musician from The Mamas & The Papas, and the talented actress and singer Geneviève Waïte. She has graced the silver screen in a multitude of films, notably "Almost Famous" and "Bully," and has also made captivating appearances in the popular television series "Raising Hope."
