Bette Midler expressed interest in joining the cast of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She shared her thoughts on social media, mentioning that she has never watched the show but is ready to stir up some drama and get paid for it.
After her post, Bravo responded with enthusiasm, calling it a "glorious crossover."
In a recent post on X, Midler playfully suggested that her tagline should be, "Those Beaches don't know what's about to hit 'em!!" This is a nod to her 1988 film, Beaches.
Even though Midler was joking about joining the Beverly Hills cast, there could potentially be a spot for her in the upcoming season if she decides to take it seriously. Lisa Rinna, who has been a Housewife for eight seasons, announced her departure from the series in January 2023 and did not appear in the recently aired season 13. Rumors are also circulating that Kyle Richards may not be too far behind in leaving the show.
Earlier this month, Richards admitted that whether or not she’ll return for the next season will be a “last-minute decision.”
Richards, 55, shared in an interview with Extra on March 10 that she often gets asked, “Are you going to come back? Are you going to leave?” She mentioned that the decision is usually made last-minute.
The Season 13 finale showed Richards dealing with the aftermath of her separation from her estranged husband Mauricio Umansky. It was revealed that they faced difficulties in their 27-year marriage in July 2023.
Reflecting on the challenges faced during the season, Richards expressed, “I think this season, particularly, because I had been so under the microscope, not just with the cast, but in the public eye. It’s been very challenging to navigate through that when I’m just trying to figure out my life myself.”
Midler, known for her role in The First Wives Club, may be getting ready for Hocus Pocus 3. This potential third installment could feature her, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy reprising their iconic roles as the Sanderson sisters: Winifred, Sarah, and Mary. The trio first brought these characters to life in the 1993 film Hocus Pocus and returned for Hocus Pocus 2 in 2022. Although the official confirmation for a third film is still pending, the 2022 sequel ended with a conclusion that leaves room for a possible continuation.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in October 2022, Whitney Peak, a star of Hocus Pocus 2, shared her thoughts on the potential for a follow-up movie. She mentioned that the sequel's storyline is open-ended, leaving many possibilities for what could happen next. Peak suggested that in a future movie, their characters could be older witches, while the Sanderson sisters might return, leading to another showdown between the two groups.
Editor's P/S:
Bette Midler's playful expression of interest in joining the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has sparked excitement among both fans and Bravo executives. While Midler's initial post was tongue-in-cheek, the potential for her to become a cast member is intriguing, especially considering the recent departure of Lisa Rinna and rumors of Kyle Richards' possible exit. Midler's boisterous personality and willingness to stir up drama would undoubtedly make her a formidable addition to the show.
However, it is important to note that Midler is currently focused on the potential development of Hocus Pocus 3, which could feature the return of the iconic Sanderson sisters. The sequel's open-ended storyline leaves room for a continuation, and Midler's enthusiasm for the project suggests that it is a priority for her. Should she decide to pursue the Real Housewives opportunity, it would be fascinating to see how she balances her commitments to both projects.
