In Baldur's Gate 3, which draws inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons, players have the opportunity to create their own unique avatars and set forth on a captivating quest to conquer the malevolent beings in the enchanting realm of Faerun. A prime example of the game's delightful and innovative character customization is seen when players recreate Kratos as a Gnome character, an amusing nod to the famed anti-hero from PlayStation.
A player of Baldur’s Gate 3 has created a custom Gnome character in the likeness of Kratos from the God of War series. The recently released Baldur’s Gate 3 for PC has quickly become one of Steam’s biggest and most popular games. Like its predecessors, Baldur’s Gate 3 follows the rules and gameplay of the Dungeons and Dragons franchise, allowing players to embark on a mystical quest to defeat the dark forces threatening Faerun.
Part of the game’s experience is the ability to create a unique character. Baldur’s Gate 3 offers a wide range of options for players to customize their hero. From choosing a background to selecting from nine playable races, players have countless possibilities to build their avatar in the spirit of the tabletop RPGs that inspired the game. It is not surprising that some players use the character customization tools in Baldur’s Gate 3 to recreate famous warriors from other games and properties, including the renowned anti-hero from PlayStation games, feared and respected throughout Greek and Nordic mythology.
Reddit user spudzzy recently shared an image of their Gnome character in Baldur’s Gate 3, drawing inspiration from Kratos in God of War. Named "Kratome," this warrior embodies Kratos's ash-white complexion, red markings, simplistic leather attire, full beard, and formidable battle axe from his Norse adventures. The main distinctions between Kratome and his muse are his smaller stature and pointed elf-like ears.
Introduced in 2005, the original Kratos served as the primary protagonist in the God of War series. Over the years, he became an iconic figure for the PlayStation brand. Initially driven by anger and vengeance, his mission was to destroy the Gods of Mount Olympus in the original God of War trilogy, seeking justice for his lost family. As time went on, Kratos's character developed and embarked on a more enlightened path, journeying alongside his son Atreus. This transformative journey culminated in the highly acclaimed God of War Ragnarok, released on the PlayStation 5 in the previous year, receiving immense praise and numerous gaming awards.
Kratos's return in a new God of War game is still uncertain, but it seems that one player has managed to bring the Ghost of Sparta to life in Baldur's Gate 3, albeit in the form of a Gnome. While the original Kratos is known for his towering presence in the God of War games, seeing him reimagined as a smaller yet equally fierce Gnome adds a delightful novelty to the game. This also showcases the extensive character customization options available in Baldur's Gate 3. The game is currently available on PC and will be released on September 6 for PS5, with an Xbox version currently in development.
