Aubrey O'Day is not convinced by Diddy's apology regarding the recently revealed footage of him physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, in 2016.

"He didn't apologize directly to Cassie. Instead, he apologized to everyone for witnessing his actions," stated the former Danity Kane singer on X on Sunday, May 19, shortly after Diddy shared an apology video on Instagram.

In December 2023, Diddy posted a statement denying the allegations made by Cassie, who accused him of rape and abuse. The couple settled the case out of court the same month. O’Day, who is 40 years old, highlighted this information.

Diddy's post addressing the allegations is still pinned to the top of his X account.

"He admits he feels ashamed of himself both then and now. Despite this, he didn't feel ashamed enough to refrain from publicly accusing her of lying and denying everything. Let's be honest, there's no room for God and mercy in this situation, and we all know it," O’Day continued.

Diddy apologized in an Instagram video for his actions in the hotel security footage, which was released by CNN on May 17th. He expressed regret and called his behavior "inexcusable."

Diddy, 54, admitted that he hit rock bottom but took full responsibility for his actions in a video. He expressed disgust and sought professional help through therapy and rehab. He asked God for mercy and grace, apologizing and committing to being a better man every day without seeking forgiveness.

In contrast, Cassie's legal team responded by stating that the video was more focused on Diddy himself rather than acknowledging the harm he has caused to others.

Meredith Firetog, a partner at Wigdor LLP, mentioned that when Cassie and several other women spoke up about their experiences, he denied everything and accused his victims of seeking money. She pointed out that his so-called 'apology' only came after his lies were exposed, which she described as a desperate and unconvincing attempt.

O'Day, a former member of Danity Kane, was part of the successful girl group created by Diddy on the reality show Making the Band 3 in 2005. However, in 2008, he publicly removed O'Day from the group during a live episode of Making the Band 4, citing her attitude as the reason for her dismissal.

"Your attitude is important. It can lead you to a bad place. The key is to stay humble," Diddy advised.

"I care about Aubrey. I don't have any issues with her," he added. "I just want to collaborate with the artist I discovered, not the person that fame has changed."

During a 2022 episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, O’Day claimed that she was fired because she was not willing to meet certain expectations, not in terms of talent, but in other aspects. (Diddy did not address her allegations.)

Editor's P/S:

The recent revelations of Diddy's abusive behavior towards Cassie have sparked outrage and condemnation. Aubrey O'Day's critique of Diddy's apology highlights the inadequacy of his response, which fails to address the harm he inflicted on Cassie directly. O'Day's personal experience with Diddy, who dismissed her from the girl group Danity Kane due to her attitude, further exposes the power dynamics and double standards that often protect abusers.

O'Day's words resonate with the broader conversation about accountability and victim support. Diddy's attempt to shift the focus onto his own feelings of shame and remorse, while neglecting to acknowledge Cassie's pain and trauma, exemplifies the need for genuine remorse and restitution. The case underscores the importance of listening to and believing survivors, and holding perpetrators responsible for their actions, regardless of their status or influence.
