The fan-favorite outfit dyeing feature, which was last seen in Assassin's Creed 2 and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood over a decade ago, is being added by Ubisoft to Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
Over the years, outfits and character cosmetics in Assassin’s Creed games have evolved as the story moved through different eras. One notable difference is that older titles, particularly those featuring Ezio Auditore, did not have a season pass system that allowed players to unlock additional character skins and cosmetic items. However, Assassin’s Creed 2 and Brotherhood introduced a dyeing feature that quickly became popular with fans, but it was not included in subsequent games. Now, this beloved feature is making a comeback in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
The official Assassin's Creed Mirage account recently posted a video on Twitter, announcing the reintroduction of the outfit dyeing feature. Players will have the option to choose from a range of different colors to personalize their gameplay experience. Additionally, a behind-the-scenes video revealed that Basim, the game's protagonist, will have various outfits corresponding to different stages of his training. During his apprentice stage, he will wear a white outfit, and as he progresses to become a master, he will acquire a red sash, which was previously seen in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
In addition to these updates, Mirage will also bring back other features from previous games in the Assassin's Creed franchise. Players will be able to enable a desaturated blue-grey color palette, reminiscent of Assassin's Creed 1, to evoke feelings of nostalgia from the series' first installment. Social stealth, a popular feature during the Ezio saga, will also make a return in Mirage. Basim will have the ability to pay off certain factions, allowing him to blend in and disappear.
Mirage's combat mechanics have received several exciting updates. One notable addition is the ability for Basim to execute Chain Assassinations, a feature reminiscent of Ubisoft's Splinter Cell Blacklist. Furthermore, players can expect to encounter a variety of new stealth gadgets that assist Basim in performing unique assassinations and escaping tricky situations. The parry mechanics in Mirage have also undergone enhancements compared to previous games, making it seemingly easier to stagger and dispatch enemies with a well-timed parry. Assassin's Creed Mirage is scheduled for release on October 12, 2023, and will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
