Arsenal Striker Gabriel Jesus: Shocking News Revealed!

Arsenal and Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus set to sit out initial weeks of season due to knee surgery Manager Mikel Arteta confirms the procedure, which stems from a previous injury that sidelined Jesus for the majority of last season's second half

Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus, the striker, will be absent for the beginning of the Premier League season and will be sidelined for "several weeks" after having knee surgery, as confirmed by Mikel Arteta.

Following Arsenal's victory over Monaco in a penalty shoot-out to secure the Emirates Cup on Wednesday, Arteta stated that the Brazilian forward had recently undergone a "procedure" on his knee.

Regrettably, he underwent a minor procedure earlier today," Arteta disclosed. "He has been experiencing discomfort in his knee, which has caused him some problems, so they had to intervene. It's not a significant issue, but he will be sidelined for a few weeks.

"It's a significant setback because he had returned to top form, particularly after his exceptional performance against Barcelona, and he was in good shape. Sadly, we have now lost him.

We had to examine it and come to a decision, and the optimal choice was to prioritize the player's protection and expedite his return. Thus, we chose to proceed.

The Arsenal manager further disclosed that Jesus' recent setback was connected to a past knee injury sustained during the previous winter's World Cup, causing him to be absent for a significant portion of the latter half of the season.

Arteta added that "We needed to address the irritation in his knee." The 26-year-old featured in Arsenal's recent pre-season friendly, a 5-3 victory against Barcelona in the US. He played for 79 minutes and received commendation from Arteta following the match.

Balogun future plans 'don't change' after Jesus injury

Regarding the potential impact of Jesus' injury on Arsenal's transfer plans, Arteta dismissed any connection and stated that the arrival of Balogun at Inter Milan this summer would not be affected.

Inter Milan remains determined to secure a deal for Balogun, with insider sources indicating that a formal bid will be submitted in the near future.
