Ariana Madix addressed Tom Sandoval‘s controversial remarks about the attention on his cheating scandal with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss.

Expressing her shock, Madix, 38, shared with the Los Angeles Times in a profile released on Thursday, February 29, how she was appalled by the hurtful comments made by Sandoval.

Sandoval, 41, was recently asked why he believed his infidelity garnered such widespread media attention. The news of Sandoval and Madix ending their nearly decade-long relationship due to his affair with their former costar Leviss, 29, broke in March 2023.

During an interview with New York Times Magazine on February 20, Sandoval shared his perspective on the situation. He referenced major events like the O.J. Simpson trial and the tragic death of George Floyd, acknowledging the strange comparison but wondering if there was a similar fascination with scandal in both cases.

In a separate portion of the interview, Sandoval expressed his feelings about receiving more hate than convicted rapist Danny Masterson. Masterson, 47, is currently serving a 30-year sentence for rape, while Simpson, 76, was famously acquitted of charges related to the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. Additionally, Floyd's death at the hands of former police officer Derek Chauvin in 2020 sparked global Black Lives Matter protests.

Madix questioned Bravo's response to Sandoval's controversial behavior, noting how much the network tried to cover for him. According to New York Magazine journalist Irina Aleksander, a Bravo representative was not present during her initial conversation with Sandoval. Bravo allegedly tried to prevent Aleksander from speaking with Sandoval again by offering other stars from Vanderpump Rules. When Aleksander finally met with Sandoval again, a publicist was present.

Sandoval issued an apology hours after his comments made headlines, expressing regret for his remarks in the New York Times Magazine. Through Instagram Stories, he acknowledged that his comparison was inappropriate and ignorant, stating, “My intentions behind the comments I made were to explain the level of national media attention my affair received. I’m incredibly sorry and embarrassed.”

In a pre-recorded introduction to his “Everybody Loves Tom” podcast, Sandoval revisited the controversy surrounding his comments. He once again apologized for his earlier remarks, admitting that he had made a mistake in attempting to draw a comparison to the media coverage of his affair. Sandoval acknowledged his error, describing the comparison as “stupid and ignorant,” and expressed deep regret, saying, “And the comparison I made was stupid and ignorant and I’m really embarrassed. And I’m really really sorry.”

Sandoval criticized his separate feature in Interview Magazine, where he posed for photos with cake. The article was published just one day after his interview in NYT Magazine.

During an interview on Thursday, Sandoval shared, "They’re like, ‘We want to do a thing where you have cakes.’ I’m like, ‘OK, I don’t know.'" He jokingly mentioned that he was taking an "indefinite" press break. He mentioned that the Interview Magazine article did not focus on the show, so he welcomed it. However, he did not enjoy any of the cakes as they all tasted unpleasant in their own way.
