Ariana Grande has taken the decision to part ways with Dalton Gomez by filing a divorce petition in Los Angeles on Monday. According to a reliable source, the singer mentioned "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for seeking dissolution.
CNN has contacted a spokesperson for Grande to request a comment. Grande is being represented by family law attorney Laura Wasser in the divorce proceedings. It is still unknown who is representing Gomez, according to CNN. The marriage between the "Thank U, Next" singer and Gomez took place in 2021.
The wedding ceremony, consisting of less than 20 people, was described as small and heartfelt by Grande's representative. According to the representative, the room was filled with joy and love, and both families, along with the couple, were extremely pleased. Grande later posted pictures of the wedding on her Instagram page, with the caption "5.15.21," revealing that the nuptials took place at their residence in Montecito.
The post has been deleted, but it formerly featured Grande wearing a Vera Wang wedding dress and sharing a kiss with Gomez, who was dressed in a Tom Ford suit.
Their wedding in 2021 took place two years after Grande's engagement to comedian Pete Davidson.
Grande and Gomez, a real estate agent, made their relationship public when Gomez starred in the music video for Grande's 2020 song "Stuck with U," a collaboration with Justin Bieber. In that same year, they revealed their engagement.
There were rumors circulating in July suggesting that the couple had separated after the "Sweetener" singer was seen without her wedding band at Wimbledon.
Grande's most recent social media post featuring Gomez dates back to November, but the couple generally kept their relationship away from public attention.
Prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike in July, the Grammy winner was occupied with the filming of "Wicked," the cinematic adaptation, in London. Bailey, Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, and Bowen Yang were also involved in the project.
