Ariana Grande’s grandmother, Marjorie Grande, recently made history by becoming the oldest person to ever appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
On Tuesday, April 16, Ariana, 30, shared a photo on Instagram celebrating her beloved Nonna who received the prestigious award. Nonna, who is 98 years old, was captured smiling while proudly holding up the framed Billboard award.
Nonna, the family matriarch, made a special appearance on the song "Ordinary Things" from Ari's album Eternal Sunshine, which came out in March. She can be heard at the end of the song, fondly remembering her late husband, Frank.
In the lyrics, Nonna shares, "And when he’d come home, and I’d see him / When he first gets off that train / It was like God almighty arrived / It was like seeing daylight." She reflects on their relationship, saying, "I mean, I could’ve packed up and left a million times, you know? / It’s not that we never fought, you can overcome that, you know? / It very easy, and as I told her."
Nonna also shares relationship advice, emphasizing the importance of never going to bed without saying goodnight. She believes that it is crucial to always show affection and if someone is uncomfortable with it, they may not be in the right relationship and should consider leaving.
This is not the first time that Nonna has made an appearance on her granddaughter's album. She was featured on the tracks "Daydreamin'" from the 2013 album Yours Truly and "Bloodline" from the 2019 album Thank U, Next.
Ariana shared on The Zach Sang Show in March how thrilled Marjorie was to be part of the album. She was deeply touched and expressed her joy at being included. Marjorie also reminisced about the various times she had been featured on Ariana's albums.

The final track of Eternal Sunshine is "Ordinary Things," where Ariana expresses how special everything feels when she is with her loved one. Despite the possibility of traveling to glamorous destinations like California, Japan, or France, the singer reveals that all she truly desires is more time with her partner.
Ariana highlighted the significance of Nonna's outro and how it brings the entire album together.
She shared, "It's fascinating because the album begins with a question and concludes with an answer from someone I deeply love and trust. I truly value the wisdom my family imparts to me." Ari referenced the first track on Eternal Sunshine, "Intro (End of the World)," where she sings, "How can I tell if I'm in the right relationship? / Aren't you really supposed to know that stuff? / Feel it in your bones and own that stuff? I don't know."
Eternal Sunshine was released weeks after news broke of Ariana’s divorce from husband Dalton Gomez after two years of marriage. She has since moved on with her Wicked costar Ethan Slater.
