Ariana Grande made a public appearance to show her support for her boyfriend, Ethan Slater, at the opening night of his new Broadway show, Spamalot. The 30-year-old singer looked absolutely stunning in a glamorous black velvet gown and sheer gloves as she walked the red carpet at the St. James Theatre in New York City on Thursday, November 16. She completed her fashionable ensemble with a bold red lip and her signature high ponytail.
Grande's BFF, Elizabeth Gillies, and Grande herself attended a preview of Spamalot earlier this month. This marks Slater's return to Broadway, his last appearance being in SpongeBob SquarePants the Musical in 2018, where he was nominated for a Tony Award. In Spamalot, Slater takes on the roles of The Historian and The Prince alongside seasoned Broadway performers Christopher Fitzgerald, James Monroe Iglehart, Taran Killam, Leslie Kritzer, and Michael Urie. Throughout the fall, Slater shared behind-the-scenes glimpses of his rehearsals for Spamalot on social media, with Grande showing her support by liking his posts.
News of Grande and Slater's on-set romance during the London filming of the two-part movie adaptation of Wicked was revealed in July. (Grande plays the role of Galinda/Glinda and Slater portrays munchkin Boq in the film, which had production temporarily halted due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.)
In July, it was confirmed that Grande and Dalton Gomez ended their two-year marriage. Shortly after, Slater filed for divorce from his wife Lilly Jay, with whom he has a one-year-old son. Slater and Jay tied the knot in 2018.
Jay was taken by surprise when Slater decided to end their relationship, but Grande is still deeply in love with her new partner. Us magazine later verified that Slater and Grande, who herself started her career on Broadway in Jason Robert Brown's 13 The Musical as a teenager, are currently residing together in New York City.
"Ethan and Ariana's relationship is flourishing, and they are heavily involved in each other's lives. Ethan has already met her family, and she has met his," a reliable source revealed to Us earlier this month, emphasizing that Grande's family supports their romance.
The insider revealed that Grande envisions a long-term future with Slater, emphasizing their shared interests as a key factor. Both are described as somewhat nerdy and passionate about theater, qualities that Grande admires in him. According to the source, this mutual connection has led to a flourishing, drama-free relationship between the two.
