Apex Legends Animated Short Teases a Hero's Potential Demise

In the gripping Apex Legends animated short, Kill Code: A Life For A Life, Loba faces a pivotal decision with unimaginable repercussions Get ready for thrilling consequences that will leave you on the edge of your seat!

Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment has released a new teaser episode of the animated series Kill Code. Titled "A Life For A Life," the episode serves as a preview for Kill Code: Part 4 and announces that the trailer will be released on Monday, November 27.

The episode delves into the aftermath of Kill Code: Part 3, where Loba confronts Valkyrie for hesitating to hand over Revenant's source code. Since Season 5, Loba has been relentlessly pursuing this code. The episode showcases Valkyrie seemingly ending her relationship with Loba and leaving her alone with her thoughts. However, as soon as Valkyrie closes the door behind her, a familiar voice echoes from the corner of the room: Revenant.

"You wished for a lifetime of happiness, or so you claimed," the vengeful undead assassin snarls, concealed within the shadows. "Instead, you chose to wreck your own existence just to ensure my perpetual torment. I trust it was all worth the sacrifice."

Loba dismisses him nonchalantly, though she visibly flinches as she faces him standing just inches away.

"Which do you desire more, your life or mine?" he inquires, awaiting her response.

Before Loba can even formulate a reply, Lifeline abruptly enters the scene, bearing news about Torres Silva, Octane's grandfather and the prevailing antagonist within the game. However, the medic falls silent, evidently bewildered by the sight of these seemingly incompatible individuals standing together without any weapons brandished.

Revenant suggests forming an alliance with Loba, who has been dedicated to finding Revenant's source code for several seasons. In Season 5, Loba joined the games and tried to eliminate the code, but inadvertently destroyed Skull Town on King's Canyon instead. However, during the Broken Ghost questline, Loba learned that destroying the code would grant Revenant's ultimate desire: permanent death, after enduring countless deaths and resurrections for 359 years. Now, all the murderous machine desires is a peaceful eternal rest.

Loba ultimately chose not to destroy the code, opting instead to make Revenant suffer by forcing him to live as punishment for his numerous crimes, including the murder of Loba's parents. Instead, she entrusted the source code to her close friend and informant, Jaime, instructing him to dispose of it by throwing it into one of the broken Phase Runners on Olympus. However, Jaime disregarded her instructions, pretending to have destroyed the code when in reality he had not.

In the previous season, Revenant was reborn and granted new abilities that no longer included the automatic resurrection of the Death Totem, which he initially possessed. Revenant frequently expressed the immense pain he experienced each time he revived himself using the Death Totem. With his powerful new arsenal and the absence of the Death Totem, it may be easy to overlook why Revenant remains so willing to embrace death.

Loba has become consumed in her mission to seek vengeance on Revenant for the murder of her parents. However, it's revealed that Revenant's newfound abilities and altered appearance were the result of Torres Silva's unauthorized enhancements, granting him some level of control over the simulacrum. Silva has been covertly observing the legends for months by strategically placing cameras in their frequent hangouts, possibly utilizing Revenant as an extra set of eyes to monitor the other characters. Given Silva's elaborate modifications to Revenant's body and skills, it's highly likely that he has sinister plans in store for him.

Unlike previous installments, Part 4 of Kill Code will have a trailer, indicating that it may be more extensive and emotionally charged than its predecessors. Respawn has confirmed that the animated series will continue until the end of the year, raising the possibility that the upcoming episode could be the finale. Although Revenant is a playable character, it's improbable that he will meet his demise. Yet, following the events of the previous season, Respawn has shown a willingness to let the game's storyline impact gameplay. Recently, Ashley Reed, the narrative lead, even confirmed that death is indeed a possibility this time around.

"Reed stated in an interview with The Gamer last August that relationships will face challenging trials, leading to their potential breakdown, and there could be casualties. This time, he emphasized his sincerity."

"Tune in on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET to catch the trailer for The Kill Code: Part 4."
