AOC Plans Epic Among Us Comeback with Twitch Stars

US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is considering another round of Among Us with popular Twitch streamers after her 2020 session with fellow congressional representative Ilhan Omar and popular streamers Pokimane, DisguisedToast, xQc, and HasanAbi was a huge success, attracting hundreds of thousands of viewers

US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seems to have her sights set on another Among Us event with popular Twitch streamers. Last year, AOC joined fellow congressional representative Ilhan Omar and Twitch personalities Pokimane, DisguisedToast, xQc, and HasanAbi for several rounds of the game, which quickly became a massive hit, attracting hundreds of thousands of fans. Now, it appears that AOC is contemplating another Among Us stream, which is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

On October 19, 2020, AOC took to Twitch to ask if anyone wanted to play Among Us with her as a way to "get out the vote." Ilhan Omar was quick to respond, and soon many other popular Twitch streamers followed suit. The very next day, AOC played several rounds of Among Us and even got to take on the role of Imposter. At the time, AOC was running for re-election, and with early voting already underway, Among Us was a great opportunity for her to encourage voting and bring attention to her campaign.

AOC's recent tweets suggest that she might be up for another round of Among Us. Twitch streamer HasanAbi responded to one of AOC's Twitter posts, proposing a repeat of their previous sessions by saying "let's run it back." AOC responded positively, stating "Yeah let's do it." While it's unclear if they have definite plans for more games, it's a promising sign for those hoping to see AOC play again.

HasanAbi's suggestion was sparked by a joke AOC made on Twitter. Republican governor Ron DeSantis, who is a 2024 presidential candidate, recently hosted a Twitter Space stream that was described as the largest online gathering ever. AOC found this amusing and pointed out that her previous Among Us session attracted over 400,000 viewers, while DeSantis' stream had around 300,000 viewers. This suggests that she has a large and enthusiastic fan base who would eagerly tune in to watch her play again.

AOC has previously expressed her love for video games and has been known to enjoy League of Legends and Animal Crossing. While her recent Twitch stream of Among Us may have been seen as an opportunity to build political momentum, it's clear that AOC also had a great time playing the game. As she continues to gain popularity within the Democratic Party, her use of Twitch and gaming could potentially play a surprising role in American politics in the near future. With the upcoming presidential campaigns, the next year and a half will be crucial in controlling the political discussion, and AOC is certainly aware of this.

Among Us is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
