Angelina Jolie's Perspective on Hollywood's Superficiality and Unhealthy Environment

Angelina Jolie candidly criticizes Hollywood, condemning its shallow and unhealthy nature She firmly believes that she wouldn't pursue acting if she were to enter the industry today

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal Magazine, Angelina Jolie revealed that she wouldn't pursue an acting career if she were starting out in the entertainment industry today.

The article "Angelina Jolie Is Rebuilding Her Life" discusses Jolie's healing process after her breakup with Brad Pitt and her future plans. She also shares her sentiments about the town that catapulted her to stardom.

"I was raised in a superficial environment," Jolie commented on her upbringing in Hollywood. "Out of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a nourishing environment. That's why I yearn for genuineness."

Daughter of actor Jon Voight, Jolie expressed to the publication, "Living in Hollywood, I never found it impressive. It never held much significance or importance to me."

If she had the option to enter the industry now, Jolie likely wouldn't. "I wouldn't pursue acting today," she stated, adding that she might have considered theater, but not Hollywood. "When I first started, there wasn't as much pressure to be so public and share so much."

After filing for divorce from Pitt seven years ago, Jolie has faced increased scrutiny, especially because she has since reduced her work commitments and focused on being at home with her six children.

"We had to heal," she said of her family. "There are things we needed to heal from."

She understands the interest in her life. At one point she and Pitt were a golden couple in the industry.

"From a young age, people have been drawn to the tough and wild side of me - that's the part I believe people find appealing," Jolie expressed. "I'm not the type to talk about my pain or sadness. It's not entertaining."

The humanitarian, at ease in both refugee camps and movie sets, shared her intention to eventually leave Los Angeles and dedicate more time to her home in Cambodia.

"Its part of what happened after my divorce," Jolie said. "I lost the ability to live and travel as freely. I will move when I can."
