Nearly two years after Aaron Carter's passing, his twin sister, Angel Carter Conrad, is set to release the music he had been working on before he passed away.

Carter Conrad, aged 36, recently spoke with Gayle King on CBS Mornings on April 23rd about "Recovery," a compilation of her late brother's unreleased music. Aaron had spent about a decade working on the album before his unfortunate passing in 2022 due to struggles with mental health and addiction.

Carter Conrad shared, "The fans have been eagerly waiting for this music. After Aaron's passing, we organized a benefit concert in his honor called 'The Songs for Tomorrow' concert. During this event, we performed Recovery, which sparked a strong reaction from fans who reached out to Aaron Pearce, the album's producer, and myself, urging us to release this music."

CBS Mornings recently featured a preview of the title track, which is scheduled to be available on streaming services starting Friday, April 26th. In the song, Carter sings, "Hit me like a hurricane / Caught up in your tidal wave / And now I’m back on solid ground / Tomorrow is a new day / Trying to shake the pain away / Cause I’m still in recovery," delivering a message of hope and resilience.

Part of the album sales will support The Kids’ Mental Health nonprofit, previously called On Our Sleeves. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds will be put into a trust for Carter’s 2-year-old son, Prince, from his relationship with Melanie Martin.

Carter Conrad discussed the tragic loss of her and Aaron's sisters, Leslie Carter and Bobbie Jean Carter, toΠ due to drug overdose. Leslie passed away in 2012 at the age of 25 from an apparent overdose, while Bobbie Jean's death in 2023 at 41 was attributed to a combination of fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Despite the heartbreak, Carter Conrad sees an opportunity to make a positive impact. She mentioned, "The silver and lining in this dark cloud is that Aaron and my family have a platform. I want to use our experience to help others, to turn things around, and to share our story for the benefit of others."

Aaron’s death in November 2022 was ruled an accident. The coroner’s report revealed that the former child singer drowned in a bathtub due to the effects of difluoroethane and alprazolam. Difluoroethane is a flammable gas commonly found in spray cleaners, while alprazolam is known to cause drowsiness and sedation.

Aaron’s family and team initially announced Recovery on April 5.

Producer Pearce shared on Instagram that he understands why the album was not released for almost 10 years. He believes that there is a greater purpose for it now. Aaron would have been grateful that his story could continue beyond the tragedy, spreading awareness and hope to future generations. Pearce emphasized that we improve ourselves when we gain more knowledge.
