Bridgerton fans may have a new favorite couple to support thanks to a surprising sex scene theory.

Netflix recently posted a clip on May 23 featuring Harriet Cains, Bessie Carter, and Polly Walker watching scenes from season 3. The trio discussed a particular scene where Portia (played by Walker) attempted to educate her daughters Philippa (Cains) and Prudence (Carter) about sex following their weddings.

A woman's pleasure is often more subtle than a man's. Portia began to explain this, but Philippa interrupted, asking, "Inserts himself? Inserts himself where?"

Portia then turned the question back to Philippa, inquiring about the activities she and her husband Finch engage in in the bedroom.

Philippa shared with Prudence a funny incident where she kissed someone and he made a strange noise before going to change his pants. Prudence was surprised that the person, Finch, still had his pants on.

Cains, who is 30 years old, explained the situation further by saying, "She's a worldly woman. Lorn thinks that Finch actually knew what was happening but was waiting patiently for consent. That's classic Finch."

Fans were quick to share their love for the theory on social media. One user wrote on X, "WAIT THE THEORY THAT FINCH DOES KNOW BUT HES BEEN WAITING FOR CONSENT IS THE CUTEST. Yes. I accept this."

Another viewer replied, “I love this theory. Finch is the goat.”

Fans of Julia Quinn's Bridgerton book series or the popular Netflix adaptation are well-acquainted with the abundance of intimate scenes. The show, which first aired in 2020, chronicles the lives of the affluent Bridgerton family members as they navigate the quest for love in 19th century London. Consequently, Netflix has not shied away from including several steamy moments in each season.

The current storyline revolves around Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) as their relationship blossoms from friendship to romance. Viewers have witnessed the gradual development of their bond over the years, culminating in their central role in season 3.

Coughlan, 37, previously teased that viewers could expect a lot of romance in the show.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in June 2023, she shared, "Luke and I read the books at the beginning of season 1, and it was funny to us. We were like, ‘Imagine if we have to kiss and do this.' And then season 3 came on and we were like, ‘Oh god.’ And then it’s like, it’s my friend. I have to kiss my friend. And you can’t pretend to kiss someone, you have to really kiss them. It’s a spicy one. It’s a lot of the stuff from the books that the fans expect has made it into the show."

The actress, later on, expressed her admiration for Newton, who is 31 years old, for how he made her feel cared for while on set.

"We really supported each other and could also find humor in the situation, like when we were just lying under a blanket and saying, 'I should relax now,'" Coughlan shared with AP Entertainment in February. Newton chimed in, "Yeah, halfway through the day, you just unwind and think, 'I don't mind being naked.'"

Coughlan mentioned during that time that when asked if they wanted to get up, they replied, "No, no, I'm fine. I'm comfy."

Two months later, Coughlan shared more details about the story with Teen Vogue in April. They said, "It's actually quite funny. It's a true story. It just shows how comfortable we had become with each other. After finishing a big, intense sex scene, we felt a sense of relief."

The first half of Bridgerton season 3 is currently streaming on Netflix. The remaining episodes drop on Thursday, June 13.
