Amy Robach, 50, took to Instagram on Monday, October 30, to commemorate her 10-year journey as a cancer survivor and show support for those currently fighting against the disease. In her uplifting message, Robach wrote, "Today marks a decade since I became a survivor. To all the courageous individuals in the midst of their battle, I applaud your strength. 🩷 #breastcancerawareness."
The former cohost of GMA3: What You Need to Know posted a picture of herself sitting in a chair during a previous cancer treatment. In the photo, she can be seen smiling and flexing her muscles while receiving an IV.
Robach was first diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2013 after having a mammogram on live television for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In the following month, she revealed on Good Morning America that she would undergo a double mastectomy to battle her illness.
Robach admitted that it was difficult for her to verbalize the diagnosis she received. She revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. While acknowledging the challenges that lie ahead, she also acknowledged the invaluable reasons she had to fight. Subsequently, she triumphed over the disease in 2014 after enduring eight rounds of chemotherapy and undergoing breast reconstruction surgery.
In January 2019, Robach celebrated her health by conquering Mount Kilimanjaro alongside her loved ones. She shared, "I reached the summit of Kilimanjaro with my family to show that I am alive and well, and ready for more adventures in life." She proudly mentioned that her father, who is 65 years old, and her 12-year-old child successfully completed the journey as well.
Reflecting on the challenging ascent, Robach viewed it as a powerful reminder of her ability to overcome obstacles. She expressed, "During the climb, I kept reminding myself that I am alive and capable of achieving anything. Being surrounded by my loved ones made it an incredible and meaningful celebration."
Since openly discussing her battle with cancer, the journalist has embraced a vibrant and fulfilling life. Alongside her ex-husband, Tim McIntosh, she is a proud parent to daughters Ava and Annalise. In addition to her passion for travel and conquering mountains, Robach has accomplished several marathons. Speaking on a GMA episode in October 2021, she expressed her immense joy and physical empowerment. Robach highlighted her newfound trust and belief in her body, investing wholeheartedly in its well-being. She emphasized her unwavering commitment to fight against any potential recurrence or lingering presence of the disease. Remarkably, at the age of 48, Robach boasts a level of health and vitality that surpasses her earlier years in her 20s and 30s.
Earlier this month, Robach confirmed that she is training for another New York City Marathon with her boyfriend, T.J. Holmes. She expressed gratitude towards him for the post-run eggs and chorizo in a series of Instagram photos on October 18, documenting her recent training session.
In November 2022, the couple ran the NYC marathon together when they were still colleagues on GMA3. However, they made headlines shortly after, as photographs emerged showing them engaging in PDA while still being married to other individuals. As a consequence, ABC placed the anchors on hiatus in December 2022, and they officially left GMA3 in January.
Holmes and his wife, Marilee Fiebig, have separated, and they have a 10-year-old daughter named Sabine. They finalized their divorce in October. In addition, Holmes has two other children, Brianna and Jaiden, from his previous marriage to Amy Ferson.
On the other hand, Robach was officially declared single in April following her 10-year marriage to Andrew Shue. During their marriage, Robach acted as a stepmother to Shue's three sons, Nate, Aidan, and Wyatt, whom he had with his ex-wife, Jennifer Hageney.
