Amanda Knox and husband Christopher Robin have welcomed their second baby, a boy.
“The birth went as smoothly as possible,” shared Knox, 36, with listeners on the "Younglings" podcast on November 29. "The atmosphere was relaxed, just Chris and me."
She remembered her husband, 36, soothing her with poetry during contractions. "And then I got an epidural and everything was a breeze," Knox said.
Knox revealed that the couple's son, Echo, was born at 9:23 p.m. on September 23, weighing 7 pounds and 6 ounces.
"Amanda only had to push like three times. She pushed nine times in three contractions... and on the third contraction, the baby popped out," Robin shared on the podcast. "He was perfect," Knox added.
The couple, who got married in 2018, also have a 2-year-old daughter named Eureka.
“When Eureka was born, it was a more shocking experience. It’s something completely unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before,” Knox said on Wednesday, comparing the two childbirth experiences. “It’s still amazing. It’s still really cool. But the shock factor was definitely greater with Eureka.”
Knox had a smooth pregnancy this time around, but she quickly realized that things wouldn't be as easy once they returned home from the hospital. “Chris was out of commission for at least the first day... he got some kind of stomach bug and couldn't help me,” Knox remembered.
She found herself handling everything on her own for the first few days, which was tough for her. “My main priority was making sure the baby stayed healthy. I was basically telling Chris to stay away from the baby,” Knox said. “Looking back, those were some challenging days.”
After the family regained their health, Knox mentioned that everything began to fall into place. This newfound ease has also benefited Eureka, their older sister. "Eureka has been incredibly supportive. She has been so kind to him since they met," she added.
Knox gained widespread attention in 2007 when she was accused of killing her roommate, Meredith Kercher, during their studies in Perugia, Italy. Knox was given a 26-year prison sentence following her and then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito's conviction for the crime, despite a lack of evidence.
In 2011, the former couple was acquitted by an appellate court, but three years later, they were convicted again in a retrial. In 2015, the Supreme Court of Cassation, the highest court in Italy, declared the murder case unfounded and both individuals were exonerated.

In 2008, Rudy Guede was convicted of Kercher's murder and received a 30-year sentence after his DNA was found at the crime scene. However, his sentence was eventually reduced, and he was released from prison in November 2021.
Shortly after giving birth to her second baby, Knox revealed on social media that she is once again facing trial in Italy. She expressed hope that this trial will lead to a complete acquittal from the wrongful accusation of slander. In October, she described this development as a positive step towards clearing her name. (Knox was acquitted of the murder charge, but her slander conviction for falsely accusing bar owner Patrick Lumumba in the murder was upheld by the Italian courts.)
