It appears that no celebrity is safe these days, as incidents of members of the public throwing objects at them during performances seem to be increasing. The latest victim of this trend is Florence Pugh.
Singers, influencers, and now actors like Florence Pugh are not immune to unexpected incidents, as was evident when she was unexpectedly hit in the face while promoting the upcoming movie Dune 2. The incident not only highlighted the willingness of some individuals to carry out such stunts, but also the support and defense offered to Pugh in response.
Fans race online to defend Florence Pugh from debris
Florence Pugh was attending a panel at Comic-Con in Brazil on Sunday to promote Dune: Part Two, alongside co-stars Timothée Chalamat, Austin Butler, and Zendaya.
The video shows the group posing for a photo when Pugh gets unexpectedly hit in the face by something thrown. It's unclear what was thrown, but it seems to have struck her in the eye, prompting her to exclaim "Oh wow," before reaching for the object on the ground.
She had just been speaking positively about her work at the panel moments earlier: "I had an amazing time coming in and just hanging around with these people, let alone actually getting to work with them," she said. "Coming in here – the power in this room – is because of that first movie, and we felt that when we went on set every single day. So it feels really, really special being here with the second one."
Pugh is not the only one affected by this incident. Back in June, singer Bebe Rexha was hit in the face by a flying phone, requiring stitches, fortunately, Pugh did not require them. Additionally, fellow Don’t Worry Darling lead Harry Styles was hit in the eye when a fan tossed a bag of Skittles at the stage.
The recent trend has sparked a strong reaction from Pugh's fans, with some even threatening to come to her defense against the attacker. One user expressed concern, stating, "It hit her directly in the eye.. this could’ve been so much worse.. if this keeps going it’ll get to the point where people won’t want to do live events anymore for their own safety."

As a Gen Z fan, I am deeply concerned about the recent trend of celebrities being attacked by fans. It is shocking and disturbing that people would think it is acceptable to throw objects at performers, and it is even more concerning that this seems to be happening with increasing frequency.
Celebrities are people, and they deserve to be treated with respect. Being hit by flying debris is not only dangerous, but it is also incredibly disrespectful. It is important to remember that celebrities are not our property, and we do not have the right to invade their personal space or put them in danger.
I hope that this trend will soon come to an end, and that celebrities will be able to attend events without fear of being attacked. In the meantime, I will continue to support Florence Pugh and other celebrities who have been targeted by this dangerous and unacceptable behavior.
