Spider-Man fans are known for their love of the hero's various suits, from the classic blue and red to more unique designs from alternate universes. Over the years, the Spider-Man video games have featured a plethora of suit options as rewards for completing side activities. However, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is introducing a never-before-seen feature with a brand new Spidey suit. In previous marketing materials, both Peter Parker and Miles Morales were only shown wearing the suits they obtained in their respective games. However, the first gameplay trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 revealed the new Symbiote suit, which players will likely be able to equip over the Advanced Suit. Additionally, the game's pre-order and deluxe edition bonuses include 12 alternate suits, some of which boast new features that set them apart from previous Spidey suits.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2's Suits Have Color Variations

Why Spider-Man's New Suits Will Change the Game Forever

Insomniac's previous Spider-Man games boasted an impressive lineup of alternate suits for both Peter and Miles. The first game alone offered a whopping 47 skins, including DLC and remastered options, while Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales had a still impressive 19. These suits were attainable through various means, such as completing missions and stopping crimes. While not all suits were created equal, a majority of them were noteworthy, coming from both Spider-Men's comic book and movie history.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has recently announced new suits available upon launch, with two offered for pre-orders and the rest exclusive to the digital deluxe edition. The deluxe edition includes five skins for each Spider-Man, totaling to 10. Although not directly from the comics, these designs were inspired by iconic runs and characters. For instance, Miles' Red Spectre suit is reminiscent of Gwen's Ghost-Spider, while Peter's 25 Century suit is similar to Mysterio's appearance.

The announcement for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 includes an exciting reveal about the pre-order bonus suits. Players who have pre-ordered will have immediate access to the Arachknight and Shadow-Spider suits, while those who haven't can still unlock them later in the game. These suits are based on the Infinity Wars comic arc and feature Peter in the Arachknight suit and Miles in the Shadow-Spider suit. It's refreshing to see more unique comic-inspired costumes, but players can also customize their suit's color variant for a more personalized look. This is the first time in Spider-Man video game history that players can change the color of their suit.

The pre-order skins for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 come with three distinct color variants each, giving players the ability to customize the highlights, trim, and body to their liking. While only these two suits have been confirmed to have multiple color options so far, it's likely that the rest of the game's suits will follow suit. This means that the number of available Spider-Man suits could easily double or triple compared to previous games, especially considering the unique wardrobes of both Miles and Peter. The game will be released exclusively for PlayStation 5 on October 20.
