Jennifer Garner regretted not keeping the iconic multicolored Versace dress she wore in 13 Going on 30. The 51-year-old actress revealed this during the November 29 episode of The View, sharing that the outfit was stored in a warehouse with other clothes from the movie after filming was completed.
"First of all, you're not supposed to keep your clothes," she said. "I'm a goody two-shoes so I didn't. And who knew that the movie was going to be more than just a passing trend?"
Garner was later surprised to see the dress appear in an episode of Sex and the City, which premiered in 2003, a year before 13 Going on 30 was released. Fans may have noticed the colorful dress worn by an extra as Carrie Bradshaw and Stanford Blatch watched Smith's play.
Garner mentioned on The View that the dress ended up in the background during the filming of Sex and the City. She expressed her love for the dress when a photo of the scene was shown during her appearance on the talk show, saying, “Get out of my dress! Give me my dress back! I love that dress.” The dress also made an appearance in the memorable "Thriller" scene with Mark Ruffalo. It has continued to be remembered through Halloween and beyond.

Ariana Grande made headlines when she brought back a version of the iconic look in a November 2021 episode of The Voice. The fashion statement came from the spring/summer 2003 collection of the fashion house and Donatella Versace shared a photo of Grande wearing the design, with the caption “My gorgeous girl.” Garner also expressed her admiration for Grande, sharing that she reached out to her via direct message to praise her beauty and grace in the dress.
Garner plays the grown-up Jenna Rink in the popular 2004 comedy, where a 13-year-old is suddenly transformed into a 30-year-old. The film explores the challenges and joys of adulthood from the perspective of a teenager. Fans of the movie will enjoy a nod to 13 Going on 30 in Garner's new film, Family Switch, according to director McG in an Entertainment Weekly interview on August 28.
He elaborated: "The movie has a kind of self-referential element because I enjoy showing that level of regard to the audience. We understand it, we understand it." EW hinted that audiences can "anticipate a fresh generation of Six Chicks" prowling the high school corridors and tormenting the new teenage characters. (The Six Chicks were the popular clique who tormented the young Jenna Rink in 13 Going on 30.)
