The door is a product of What If...?, a spin-off series that is based on the 1977 comic series. As Phase Five progresses, there are still many exciting stories to come. Here's what we currently know about Season 2 of What If...?.

Is there a What If Season 2 release date?

What If…? Season 2 is set to premiere on Disney+ in December 2023.

We initially anticipated the release to be in early 2023, as announced by Marvel at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con. However, industry insider KC Walsh recently revealed that the show's comeback on Disney+ will be delayed until late 2023 or early 2024.

This contradicts the desires of producer Mark Winderbaum, who envisioned each new season of the show becoming an annual release. Winderbaum expressed his thoughts, saying, "As you are aware, animation requires a significant amount of time for production. Luckily, we were fortunate enough to receive approval for a second season early on, giving us the opportunity to potentially release it next year. We will have to wait and see how things unfold. Of course, in this uncertain world, I do not wish to make any predictions, but our goal is to make it an annual release."

An exact release date hasn’t been revealed, so we’ll update this space upon its announcement.

What If Season 2: Is there a trailer?

A trailer for What If…? Season 2 was shown at San Diego Comic-Con, but has not been released to the public just yet.

We’ll be sure to include it here as soon as Marvel releases it.

What If Season 2 cast: Who will be in it?

Speculation around who will appear in the next season is already bursting with excitement, as there is currently a budding cast list for What If…? Season 2.

Several characters from What If…? Season 1 are set to make a comeback in Season 2, such as the Watcher, Zombie Hawkeye, Captain Marvel, Okoye, and Captain America. Exciting news comes from Laurence Fishburne, who has confirmed that he will reprise his role as Bill Foster/Giant Man.

Newcomers set to appear in Season 2 of the show include Abomination, Ghost, Scarlet Witch (previously seen as Zombie Wanda in Season 1), Yelena Belova, Kate Bishop, Kamala Khan, Red Guardian, Jimmy Woo, Death Dealer, Katy from Shang Chi, and Shang-Chi himself. It remains uncertain if these characters will be voiced by their counterparts from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

So far, only one new actor has been confirmed for the show's second season, which is Cate Blanchett reprising her role as Hela. In a recent interview at LightBox Expo, series director Bryan Andrews expressed his amazement at recording Cate Blanchett's voice for an upcoming episode in Season 2. He promised that this portrayal of Hela will be unlike anything seen before.

New reports state that Elizabeth Olsen will return to voice Wanda Maximoff, aka The Scarlet Witch, but these rumors have not been confirmed.

We’ll update this article upon any casting details.

Do we know What If Season 2’s plot?

Unfortunately, information regarding the plot details of Season 2 remains undisclosed. However, A.C Bradley, the head writer, has restated his previous statements to Slash Film, expressing his ideas and plans for the future trajectory of the show.

Discussing the concept of new characters, Bradley expressed his excitement for Season 2. He mentioned his eagerness to interact with Shang-Chi and spend time with the Black Widow characters. The show will introduce fresh characters and narratives.

The direction of each episode's plot will depend on the chosen heroes. Bradley hinted at the vast possibilities of the infinite multiverse that will be explored in What If...? to Entertainment Weekly.

"I have a strong desire to engage with all of these characters, even though I have a deep affection for Captain Carter. It is important that we spread the love and showcase new worlds and new heroes." In regards to Season 2, it has been confirmed that there will be an episode that was originally intended for Season 1, featuring Gamora prior to her involvement with the Guardians of the Multiverse. Bradley has also clarified that this episode is still being worked on and will be included in the second season. This will provide viewers with a glimpse into the origins of these characters and how their stories unfolded."

Director Bryan Andrews revealed some hints about the plotlines during LightBox Expo. He humorously mentioned a 1988 version of The Avengers and expressed excitement about the team members involved. Additionally, he mentioned an episode featuring Hela and explained that the season premiere continues from where the Season 1 finale concluded.

However, there have been reports of leaked episode titles and plots. While these leaks are not confirmed as official information, if they are accurate, they provide substantial insight into the upcoming storylines of the second season.

We will update this section as more information comes out.
