West Ham's £40m offer for Chelsea and England midfielder Conor Gallagher has been turned down. It is understood that Chelsea may consider prolonging Gallagher's contract, as he still has two years remaining.
Gallagher himself would likely have to initiate any potential departure, as West Ham is currently considering whether to make an enhanced offer. The England midfielder is currently on Chelsea's tour of the USA and managed to contribute a goal in their 4-3 victory over Brighton on Sunday. Presently, manager Mauricio Pochettino intends to include him in the squad for the upcoming season.
We News understands Chelsea value him well in excess of £40m.
Gallagher is one of a number of midfielders West Ham are looking at following the departure of Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105m.
West Ham among clubs monitoring Maguire situation
Harry Maguire is attracting significant attention from both domestic and international clubs, with West Ham expressing their interest in the talented English defender. Moreover, The Hammers recently had a £45m offer turned down by Fulham for Joao Palhinha. Furthermore, they are actively pursuing the signatures of James Ward-Prowse, the current captain of Southampton, as well as Denis Zakaria from Juventus and Edson Alvarez from Ajax. The Hammers are considering the possibility of securing the services of the 30-year-old defender either through a loan or a permanent transfer. The player, who was recently informed that he would no longer hold the position of Manchester United captain, may now seek a move to another club. Nevertheless, the Hammers are mindful that the issue of wages could potentially pose a challenge if an agreement between the two clubs is reached.
