Pink and Brandi Carlile paid a moving tribute to the late musician Sinead O'Connor during Pink's Summer Carnival tour in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Pink invited Carlile, 42, to join her on stage during her North American tour. Carlile, who is supporting Pink on the tour, shared a childhood memory with the audience. She reminisced about going to the Ocean City boardwalk with her 10 dollars and creating demo tapes, always choosing songs like Whitney Houston's "Greatest Love of All" or Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U".
In the concert's social media footage, Carlile and Pink were seen wearing contrasting dark and light outfits as they took turns singing lines in a heartfelt rendition of "Nothing Compares 2 U." O'Connor originally released her version of the Prince hit in 1990 and it was awarded the No. 1 single at the Billboard Music Awards that year.
Fans were deeply moved by Pink and Carlile's emotional performance, and they expressed their admiration for the women on social media. "Such a beautiful and spontaneous tribute," tweeted one user.
A concert attendee tweeted that the cover during the live show was so emotionally moving that it brought tears to their eyes.
Concluding their performance, Pink emphasized to the audience the importance of considering that everyone is dealing with their own challenges. She called on everyone to simply offer a smile, highlighting the collective experience of learning this lesson.
O’Connor’s family confirmed her death to RTE on Wednesday, expressing profound devastation. She was 56 years old.
In May, Pink gave her own rendition of "Nothing Compares 2 U" during a performance on BBC Radio 2’s Piano Room. Despite the years that have passed since O'Connor's famous cover, she recently shared insights into her relationship with the original artist of the song.

"I had the opportunity to meet Prince, but unfortunately, we didn't get along. In fact, we strongly disliked each other. Our animosity even escalated to violence, which I can't elaborate on right now. However, it's quite an amusing story that I will share in my book when I'm older. Speaking of which, in my memoir 'Rememberings' released in 2021, I delve further into my relationship with Prince. I mistakenly believed that he wanted to celebrate the success of my song when we briefly crossed paths in 1988. I thought there would be cake, as it seemed to be a common occurrence with renowned individuals like Prince."
Nevertheless, O'Connor reportedly did not receive a hospitable reception. Recalling her encounter with Prince, she staunchly declared, "I am not your employee. If you find my candid interviews displeasing, you are welcome to go indulge in self-pleasure."
