How to romance companions in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader
Yrliet romance
In the Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader game, there are four romanceable companions: Cassia, Heinrix, Jae, and Yrliet. Throughout the campaign, it is possible to pursue multiple romances, including kissing or even sleeping with some characters. However, a decisive choice must be made near the end that will permanently commit the player to one romantic option.
Pay attention to dialogue options during one-on-one conversations with companions as some can advance the romance. Your allies also have their own quests that you'll want to complete. Don't forget to explore our articles on recruiting all companions and our companion tier list to determine which characters can join your squad and offer the most benefits.
Cassia romance
The Cassia romance begins with a sense of innocence. Her mutations make her feel disfigured, and it's important to reassure her that she's "beautiful no matter what." It's crucial to be supportive and listen to her suggestions during her companion quests.
During Act 2, there is a significant dialogue about looking into Cassia's well-being. Sending birds to her room allows the romance to progress further into the campaign. Unfortunately, if this scene was missed, it may result in being locked out of additional options.
Romancing Cassia begins with complimenting her beauty.
Heinrix romance
Heinrix, a potential companion romance in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader, is an Inquisitor with some cunning tactics. It's important to try to understand his motivations. Here are a couple of notable interactions:
Invite Heinrix to have a private chat in your room. When he brings up regicide, respond with: "I'm familiar with regicide. Maybe we could discuss the game sometime."
Finish Heinrix's personal quest and the other main missions in Act 2. Upon returning to the von Valancius manor on Dargonus, an event will take place to celebrate your accomplishments. Heinrix will also give you a warning, and you will have the option to kiss him. Towards the end of the sequence, as Heinrix is preparing to leave your room, you can tell him that he doesn't need to go.
In other scenarios when Heinrix visits your office, there are additional "frisky" decisions that you can make.
The Jae companion romance in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader is probably the most straightforward out of the bunch. Once she's joined your squad, you'll be able to ask: "Has the esteemed princess' heart been claimed by some lucky fellow?" Nobody expects a kiss on a member of the Inquisition.
Jae romance
You can then choose additional flirtatious options, such as:
"I enjoy being with you."
"I do not see you as a toy. I just like you."
"My dazzling one, can I trust that you hold in your heart..."
Afterwards, ask your fellow companions for some funny comments as the next step involves giving her a gift—you can even ask those you're romancing without worry. Once you have completed the main quest on Dargonus, inform High Factotum Janris Danrok that you intend to gift Jae her own planet. Following this, you will discover the Princess of Efreet point of interest in Mundus Valancius, Dargonus' star system.
As you continue to jump from one star system to the next, Jae will surprise you with a gift: a Sirocco animal. Additionally, there will be more flirtatious options when she visits your room.
Jae makes several appearances in your room.
Yrliet romance
The Yrliet romance in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader is more intricate compared to the others, as she is an Aeldari (or Eldar) and has natural mistrust towards humans. The most important rule is to be understanding of the differences in human and Aeldari interactions. Avoid attempting to flirt with her in the same manner as with a human character, as it will only disgust her.
Once you have developed a strong relationship with her, these are some of the key interactions that may occur.
When you spot her meditating on your voidship, be patient and avoid startling or annoying her by choosing the wrong option. Show her that you remembered her advice about Aeldari meditation.
In the fountain scene, when you hear echoes of people you've met, refrain from kissing or embracing her. Instead, gently touch her hand.
Later in Act 3, there will be a crucial turning point, which we won't reveal here. Just know that you should be open to accepting Yrliet and be willing to forgive her.
When it comes to Yrliet, it's important to proceed with caution since Aeldar don't trust humans. These are just a few examples of the interactions you can anticipate when romancing companions in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader. Unfortunately, it appears that there's no option to romance other characters, such as Sister Argenta or Abelard.

Editor's P/S
As an enthusiastic fan of the Warhammer 40K universe, I am thrilled to see the introduction of companion romances in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader. The opportunity to form closer relationships with certain party members adds a new level of depth and immersion to the game. I can't wait to embark on these romantic journeys and discover the secrets of companionship in the dark and gritty setting of the Warhammer 40K universe.
The choice to include multiple romanceable companions, including the ability to kiss or even sleep with some characters, adds an exciting element of player agency to the game. However, the decisive choice near the end that permanently commits the player to one romantic option creates a sense of tension and weight to these relationships. I appreciate the careful balance between player freedom and narrative consequence that this design decision represents.
