Unleashing the Firepower: A Beginner's Guide to Warhammer 40,000 Boltgun Missions

In Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, players are thrust into the grim and dark universe as a lone Space Marine tasked with cleansing the Forge World of Graia from the clutches of evil. Despite facing overwhelming odds against the malicious Forces of Chaos, players have access to powerful Relics, Special Ammo, and hidden Secrets that can turn the tide of battle. However, uncovering these powerups requires a keen eye and sharp wit, as they are often concealed behind deceptive walls and hidden nooks. This guide will provide players with the knowledge to uncover every Secret in Chapter One, saving them from the frustration of missing out on valuable resources.

Mission One - Off Target (Secrets: One)

Secret One - Assault Doctrine

Upon crashlanding on Graia, players are tasked with progressing through the mission by annihilating hordes of lowly enemies and mastering the basics of Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. As they traverse through the mission, players will eventually come across a shrine room that houses the revered Boltgun. Once acquired, they must navigate to the end of the room and descend a lengthy shaft.

Upon reaching the bottom, they must slay some cultists, push a button, and enter the next room.

Unsurprisingly, waiting in the next room are more enemies, which the player must make quick work of before entering the next room ahead.

Immediately entering the seemingly empty room will cause a purge protocol, so players should stop in the doorway and quickly head to the corner directly to their right.

Upon reaching the designated area, players will come across a wall adorned with the unmistakable symbol of the Adeptus Mechanicus. It is imperative that they approach this wall, as it conceals a hidden door that can be accessed with ease.

Opening the disguised door reveals the Secret, an Assault Doctrine Relic players can use to annihilate enemies effortlessly with their Chainsword during the Purge Protocol.

Mission Two - Mountain Batteries (Secrets: Six)

Secret One - Emperor's Visage

To advance in Mountain Batteries, gamers are required to complete the mission until they reach the Red Door that requires a Red Key to unlock. After that, they need to climb to the top floor of the building and locate a window that offers a view of the area below. The next step is to jump down from the window.

Upon arrival, the unsuspecting players will be met with the twisted hospitality of the Ruinous Powers as the cultists make their presence known. Once the enemies have been defeated, the players must then make their way to the towering wall on their right and approach the gate.

There, they will find a button that opens the gate before them. Players must press it, opening the gate and revealing an area plagued by cultists and Chaos Space Marines.

Overcoming these foes may prove to be a formidable task, but once defeated, adventurers can venture towards the rear of the vicinity, adjacent to the edge of the cliff, where they will uncover the Emperor's Visage Relic - a power boost that will provide them with 300 Contempt, an impressive defense against the impending Forces of Chaos.

Secret Two - Munitions Boon

Continuing from Secret One, players will move until they come upon the area boasting two massive guns, Quake Cannons.

Players will encounter various foes in this area that they must either defeat or avoid in order to reach the left ramp. Once they reach the ramp, they will need to confront a small group of heretics stationed at the top.

Instead of following the path forward, players will come across a building ahead and a path to the left. However, they can take a more adventurous route by jumping from the top of the rock on the left, then onto the one on the right.

Atop the rock, players will see a platform across, with yellow paint marking its edge. They must jump to this platform.

Adorning the center of the platform is a valuable powerup known as the Munitions Boon Relic. This relic increases the ammo capacity of all weapons, providing a significant advantage for guns with smaller magazines such as the Meltagun.

Secret Three - Machine Spirit

Heading down to the area they were in before ascending the ramp, players will see a tall building to their right. They must head there.

Players will find a door they can open with the button, granting them entry to the building.

The uppermost room of the building houses the Machine Spirit Relic, a potent powerup that imparts a distinctive upgrade to the Space Marine's equipped weapon, making it imperative for them to reach the pinnacle.

Secret Four - Vortex Grenade

After acquiring the Machine Spirit, players must approach the wall directly ahead. Doing so reveals this unimpressive wall to be a door in disguise.

Interacting with the wall triggers an intriguing mechanism that lifts the wall, uncovering the coveted Vortex Grenade Relic. This explosive device has the ability to warp reality, drawing in enemies and unleashing a barrage of destructive energy upon them.

Secret Five - Aura Of Doom

Heading down to the area outside the building entrance, players can see a structure between the Quake Cannons across from them.

Players must tackle hoards of cultists and several Chaos Space Marines to reach this building; they can take either the left or right path to it.

Reaching the building, players will find several enemies guarding the Aura of Doom Relic, a powerup that increases the damage they inflict and reduces the damage they take.

Secret Six - Kraken Rounds

Players will continue progressing the mission until they happen upon the area infected with muck and Plague Toads.

They will then head to the platforms on the right and climb up them, eliminating obstructing enemies in their way.

Upon reaching the top, players will see a platform across from them that they must jump to.

Doing so brings them to a pillar of stone holding Kraken Rounds, Special Ammo for the Boltgun that fires much faster than the usual ammunition.

Mission Three - Sector Imperialis (Secrets: Seven)

Secret One - Munitions Boon

Upon starting Sector Imperialis, players will progress through the mission until they reach the Red Door.

They will head right from the Red Door until they reach the end, where a building with a green banner sits.

Players will round the corner of this building and head down the rubble-covered path to the end.

They will find a path to the right, taking them directly to the Munitions Boon Relic.

Secret Two - Emperor's Visage

Players will head to the green banner building they saw before and enter it, heading to the top floor.

Progressing through the building will take players to a room displaying the Shotgun in its center.

Once players have successfully eliminated multiple enemies using the Shotgun, they should proceed towards the right opening. Upon arrival, they will discover the Red Key and the Emperor's Visage Relic perched atop a statue's head. Acquiring the powerup entails leaping and clambering onto the statue's head.

Secret Three - Kraken Rounds

From there, players will head to the Red Door and open with the Red Key, progressing through the mission normally.

Players will eventually reach an area with an Adeptus Mechanicus symbol and two paths, one to the left and the other to the right.

They will head left until they reach a fortified structure at the end bearing enemies.

After eliminating the heretics within, players must enter the structure and follow either of its paths to the back, where they will find Kraken Rounds.

Secret Four - Machine Spirit

Players will then head to the opposite path and follow it till they reach a structure matching the one they were in before.

They will clear the enemies within, enter it, and follow either path to the back, where they will find the Machine Spirit Relic.

Secret Five - Vortex Grenade

Players will progress through the mission as usual, unlocking the Purple Door with the Purple Key and moving forward.

Soon, they will reach an elevator descending into an arena-like area, initiating a Purge Protocol.

Players must jump across to the staircase directly opposite of the elevator and follow it up.

Atop the staircase is a seemingly empty space, but should players approach the unsuspicious walls to their right, they will discover there is more than apparent.

They will find a smoother section of the wall, which, if they approach, reveals itself to be a door that they can open by interacting with it.

After the door grinds open, players will find a small room with the Vortex Grenade Relic within.

Secret Six - Aura Of Doom

Across from the hidden door, down below, players will see a broken bridge.

Leaping to it allows players to reach the Aura of Doom Relic sitting atop the ruined bridge.

Secret Seven - Dragonfire Rounds

From the same ruined bridge, players can see a building with no obvious way of reaching it.

They must leap from the bridge to the protruding edge of the building and carefully follow it around to the opening.

They will enter the building and, behind a column, will be Dragonfire Rounds, Special Ammunition that causes a fiery death for enemies covering a wider area.

Mission Four - Silent Martyrs (Secrets: Six)

Secret One - Machine Spirit

Players embarking on Silent Martyrs will need to progress through the mission, searching for the elusive Red Key that unlocks the Red Door. This key can be found in a room on the upper levels of a towering purple building, located directly across from the starting point. Initially, the door to the room will be closed, but it will open when approached, unleashing a swarm of Nurglings that players must defeat before they can collect the valuable Red Key.

Players must leave the room and descend to the lower levels of the area by crossing the bridge with the Red Key in hand. Directly underneath the bridge, there is a previously locked space that can now be accessed through a doorway. It is essential for players to explore this area.

Following the tunnel down leads players to the Machine Spirit Relic, a surefire way of making the Boltgun even more powerful, with some Health and Contempt along the way.

Secret Two - Munitions Boon

From here, players must exit the room and make a left once they are outside.

Heading this way will bring them to the Purple Door, but they need not worry about it now. Instead, they will turn their attention to the space left of the door.

At first, it seems there is nothing more than sandbags, braziers, and a crate, but there lies the Secret.

Heading toward the crate and observing it further reveals an opening, inside of which is the Munitions Boon Relic, a beneficial powerup regardless. ​​​​​​​

Secret Three - Vortex Grenade

Players must navigate through the murky catacombs beyond the Red Door in search of the elusive Purple Key required to open the Purple Door. The mission is far from over as they embark on this challenging quest.

Players will encounter Nurglings and Plague Toads in an infested area while meandering through the catacombs. Once they have defeated these disease-ridden enemies, they must make their way to the barricaded structure situated in the center of the room. Here, they will locate the elusive Purple Key.

Left of the Purple Key, players will find a path illuminated by a purple light. Following this path leads them to a Purple Door, which they must unlock.

Players inadvertently reveal the Secret when they unlock this particular door. To proceed, they must move directly across from the Purple Door and descend a flight of stairs that leads to an open doorway.

Going down the stairs and into the room brings players to the Vortex Grenade Relic, which is more than enough to deal with whatever foes the Ruinous Powers throw at them.

Secret Four - Dragonfire Rounds

As players advance through the mission, they will eventually come across an arena-like area adorned with several stunning statues. However, they must remain cautious, as a Purge Protocol is sure to be activated shortly after their arrival.

Players are required to make their way towards the building that has a circular window. Once there, they need to ascend to the balcony-like region that is packed with sandbags, barricades, and crates – all of which may not seem significant at first glance.

Amidst the pile of war supplies, a crate on the left catches the eye with a small opening. Upon closer inspection, it is discovered that the crate contains Dragonfire Rounds, bullets that possess the power to obliterate hordes of Nurglings with ease.

Secret Five - Aura Of Doom

Upon collecting the Yellow Key and proceeding through the nearby Yellow Door, players will advance their mission to a spacious arena with a grand statue at its center, flanked by towering columns. However, entering this area will trigger the Purge Protocol, unleashing the Forces of Chaos upon players.

On the ruined bridge overshadowed by the central statue, players will find the Aura of Doom Relic.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Secret Six - Kraken Rounds

From their current position on the ruined bridge, players must descend the flight of stairs to their left to the bottom floor.

Here, they can see two doorways in the corner of the area heading elsewhere. Following either will lead players down a set of stairs to a room not too far below.
