Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has revealed that the upcoming Like a Dragon 8 will include a special in-game character modeled after Kson, a well-known VTuber and devoted fan of the franchise. Like previous entries in the series, many characters in Like a Dragon 8 will be based on real-life actors, including professional wrestlers, adult video stars, and other notable figures. The game's cabaret hostesses will also feature recognizable faces, with several recent titles even using models based on famous personalities. Last year, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio held auditions for both Like a Dragon Gaiden and the main game, seeking talented performers to portray in-game hostesses. Kson was one of the finalists for Like a Dragon Gaiden, and ultimately emerged as the winner of the "Grand Prix" competition, securing a coveted spot as an in-game character in Like a Dragon 8.
During a livestream on the developer's official YouTube channel, Kson competed against Ayu, Ai Kaname, Ai Sayama, and Kokoro Nakayama for a role and emerged as the winner. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's staff, comprising around 143 members, voted for the winner. Kson secured 35 votes, closely followed by Nakayama with 33 votes and Sayama with 30 votes. Notably, Kson is a popular American-Japanese livestreaming personality who excels in on-camera and Vtube streaming. She is a huge fan of the franchise and has even referred to its character Kazuma Kiryu as her husband on multiple occasions. Kson has garnered a massive fanbase in both the East and West, thanks to her involvement with Hololive and VShojo agencies as different personalities.
Kson's achievement of becoming an in-game hostess in Gaiden and winning the grand prize to feature in Like a Dragon 8 has brought immense joy to her fans. Congratulations poured in as fans express their happiness for Kson's successful accomplishment of her dream. Fans are eagerly anticipating the possibility of Kson and her avatar being featured in a VTubing substory in the game. The game is set to release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in 2024.
