Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage celebrates resolution of the actors' strike, despite continued delay of season 7.
The SAG-AFTRA strike has ended, possibly allowing for the production of scripts for Young Sheldon. However, there is still uncertainty surrounding the filming schedule. As a result, season 7 of Young Sheldon may be considerably shorter, potentially leading to the spin-off's conclusion in the upcoming year.
Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage rejoices in the end of the actors' strike, despite the ongoing delay of season 7. After 118 days, the SAG-AFTRA protest concludes with a tentative agreement between the organization and studios, particularly regarding fair compensation. This signifies a resumption of work for most TV and movie projects in Hollywood, including Young Sheldon, which has been significantly affected by the strike.
In light of this positive development, Armitage, who portrays the main character in The Big Bang Theory spin-off prequel, shares his excitement on his official Instagram account. Take a look at a few screenshots from his Instagram Stories below:
When Young Sheldon Season 7 May Release
Armitage and most of his fellow actors from Young Sheldon were outspoken in their support for both the Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA during their unprecedented concurrent strikes. With the industry-wide issue now resolved, it comes as no surprise that he is delighted with the outcome.
The Young Sheldon's writers' room has been back to work for a while now, suggesting that scripts could be ready for production. However, the SAG-AFTRA strike being resolved, studios and networks may strategically delay restarting filming for pending projects due to the upcoming holidays. CBS has not released any information about the tentative schedule for Young Sheldon, which sets it apart from other shows already in the process of returning to production.
Assuming The Big Bang Theory prequel resumes production soon, fans can expect Young Sheldon season 7 to potentially premiere in the midseason. If they can work efficiently during the holidays, new episodes may be available as early as January. However, if more time is needed for production, CBS may choose to release it in March. The advantage of Young Sheldon being a grounded show is that it has a streamlined post-production process, reducing the wait time for episodes to be ready.
Unfortunately, due to these delays, Young Sheldon season 7 may have a significantly shorter episode count. Instead of the usual 20+ episodes, CBS may only produce 10-13 episodes within the limited timeframe. This is particularly concerning because discussions about the spin-off's end are currently taking place.

As a fan of the show, I am thrilled to hear that the actors' strike has finally been resolved and that production on Young Sheldon can resume. I have been eagerly anticipating the release of season 7 and am disappointed that it has been postponed. However, I understand that the strike was necessary to ensure fair compensation for the actors and writers, and I am glad that an agreement has been reached.
I am also concerned about the possibility that season 7 of Young Sheldon may be shorter than usual due to the delays caused by the strike. I hope that CBS will be able to work efficiently during the holidays to produce as many episodes as possible. I am confident that the show will continue to be a success, regardless of its length.
