Similar to Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Hardy has also contributed his own ideas to the story. As the movie is currently in production, we have gathered all the information available about Venom 3.
Sony PicturesEddie and Venom are returning for a third film.
Is there a Venom 3 release schedule?
Venom 3 is scheduled to be released globally on November 4, 2024. Initially, the movie was intended to premiere on July 11, 2024, but production had to halt due to the SAG-AFTRA strike that started in June 2023.
Venom 3 is set to join an impressive line-up of Sony Pictures films in 2024, alongside Kraven the Hunter on August 30, 2024, and Madame Web on February 16, 2024. Unfortunately, the theatrical release of El Muerto, a spinoff, has been recently canceled.
The sequel to the Oscar-winning film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, titled Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has recently been released in theaters. Its follow-up, Beyond the Spider-Verse, is currently scheduled for release on March 29, 2024, although there is a possibility of it being delayed. In a previous interview with Digital Spy, Hardy mentioned that these films typically come in trilogies, and while the future films depend on the success of each individual installment, they should be approached as if they were the last in the series.
“But I believe it is crucial to approach something with the understanding that one, two, and three may not be identical... that each has its own unique narrative and perspective. This way, you can avoid being taken off guard when tasked with creating a third installment out of thin air.
He stated, "Ensuring continuity is crucial for the third, fourth, and fifth installments. However, if someone rejects the idea, it is alright. We can simply move on and focus on a different project." Fans recently unveiled an exclusive glimpse of Tom Hardy in Venom 3, which you can find further details about in this article. Additionally, he gave a sneak peek of the film on his Instagram account.
Hardy also confirmed the movie has resumed production following the Hollywood strikes in an Instagram post.
Venom 3 cast: Who’s returning, and are there any new characters?
The returning cast members for Venom 3, apart from Tom Hardy reprising his role as Eddie Brock, have not been confirmed. Considering Detective Patrick Mulligan's fate in the previous movie, it is possible that Stephen Graham may return. Additionally, fans hope to see Michelle Williams reprise her role as She-Venom.
Ted Lasso actress Juno Temple has revealed that she will begin filming soon and is extremely excited about it. Additionally, it has been confirmed that Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for his role as Karl Mordo in Doctor Strange and its sequel, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, will also be joining the cast.
This update was first reported by Deadline, however it it unclear what role the actor will be taking on at the time of writing.
We’ll update this article on any further casting details.
Venom 3: Is there a trailer?
There isn’t a trailer just yet for Venom 3, but we’ll be sure to include it once Marvel gives fans a first look at Eddie Brock’s upcoming adventure.
Venom 3 plot: What will it be about?
Where Venom 3 will take Eddie Brock is unknown, though we wager the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home will factor into Tom Hardy’s third outing.
Andy Serkis, the director, expressed in an interview with Screen Rant that while many are eager for Venom and Spider-Man to meet, he sees potential in exploring the other supervillains housed in Ravencroft. Serkis believes there is a rich source of untapped material waiting to be discovered, making it a sandbox he would be particularly interested in playing in. He poses the question, "Who might be lurking within that could break free?"
Who knows, maybe even Morbius will have an effect on its story too. We’d rather it didn’t.
What has happened in the Venom movies so far?
Venom (2018)
Eddie Brock, an investigative journalist, loses his job for trying to defame tech mogul Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed) in the inaugural installment of Marvel's anti-hero franchise.
Drake's unethical experiments involving symbiotes result in Brock crossing paths with Venom, a extraterrestrial organism that requires a human as its host for survival. Together, they form an alliance to bring down Drake for his crimes, and discover unexpected similarities between themselves along the way. Once the chaos settles, Brock pays a visit to imprisoned serial killer Cletus Kassidy (played by Woody Harrelson), a decision he may soon come to regret.
Venom: Let There Carnage (2021)
Shortly after the events of Venom, Eddie Brock maintains communication with Cletus Kassidy, who supplies him with newsworthy material related to his criminal activities. Subsequently, Kassidy makes an attempt to harm Brock, leading to the intervention of Venom in his defense.
Sony PicturesCarnage made its debut in Venom 2.
After discovering Brock's hidden secret and experiencing a sample of his blood, Kassidy takes it upon himself to release the unhinged symbiote Carnage into the world. Kassidy's troubling history catches up with him when his past love, Frances Berrison/Shriek, joins him in his destructive spree. Amidst the chaos, Detective Patrick Mulligan becomes entangled in the battle between Venom and Carnage, and there are hints that he may undergo a symbiotic transformation of his own in a future movie, potentially evolving into Toxin.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
In the after credits of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Eddie Brock was transported to the MCU 616 universe.
After triumphing over Carnage, Brock continues to elude the authorities in No Way Home's post-credits scene. His perplexity deepens upon discovering the coexistence of Spider-Man and various Avengers.
Before embarking on his mission to find Spider-Man, Brock is transported back to the Sony Pictures universe as a result of Doctor Strange's spell that restored the multiverse, at least temporarily.
