US Launches Airstrikes in Eastern Syria, Targeting IRGC and Iranian-Backed Militant Weapons Depot

The Pentagon announced US airstrikes in eastern Syria, targeting a weapons storage facility used by Iran's IRGC and affiliated groups

The Pentagon announced on Wednesday that the US military has carried out an airstrike on a weapons storage facility in eastern Syria. This facility was being used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its affiliated groups. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated that this precise and defensive strike is in response to a series of attacks on US personnel in Iraq and Syria by affiliates of the IRGC-Quds Force. He further emphasized that the safety of US personnel is the highest priority for the President, who directed this action to demonstrate that the United States will protect itself, its personnel, and its interests.

The strike was conducted by two F-15s, Austin said.
