In the past 50 years, Wolverine has become a member of multiple teams across the Marvel universe. Since his debut in the X-Men titles, he has consistently joined forces with various teams to take down formidable foes before moving on. As we approach his Marvel Comics anniversary, let's take a look at the numerous teams Wolverine has been a part of.

X-Men

It feels almost redundant to say, but yes, Wolverine is an X-Man. He joined the team in the all-time classic Giant-Size X-Men #1.

Wolverine makes his first appearance in X-Men in Giant-Size X-Men #1. This issue serves as a soft reboot for the series, as Wolverine joins a new team of X-Men that includes Storm, Colossus, and Nightcrawler. Their mission is to rescue the original X-Men from the island of Krakoa.

X-Force

Over time, Wolverine has evolved from a solitary and rough individual to a celebrated member of a team. He has even taken on leadership roles, such as serving as the Headmaster of the restructured Jean Grey Institute.

The original X-Force, led by the time-displaced mutant Cable, was a formidable strike force. Over the years, the name would resurface with various iterations of the team emerging.

Marvel ComicsWolverine also helmed several versions of the mutant wet works team, X-Force.

In the Utopia era, Wolverine resurrected X-Force as a team of mutant operatives, with a diverse lineup including X-23, Deadpool, Archangel, and Psylocke. Their mission was to eliminate potential threats to the dwindling mutant population before they could strike.

During the Krakoa era, Wolverine's leadership of X-Force persisted, albeit with a shift in focus. The new X-Force operated as a covert squadron, dedicated to solving mutant-related issues while navigating the laws of Krakoa.

Multiple teams of Avengers

Wolverine participated in the jailbreak on The Raft alongside other Marvel heroes. Iron Man and Captain America saw this as a pivotal moment to reassemble the Avengers, so they recruited all those who had contributed to the successful rescue.

Wolverine from Marvel Comics was a regular member of various New Avengers rosters.

Throughout the years, Wolverine served as an Avenger on multiple squads, alongside fellow superheroes such as Luke Cage, Spider-Man and Spider-Woman. He was also a part of the Avengers Unity Squad, a team comprised of both human and mutant heroes with the goal of fostering better relations in the aftermath of the Phoenix Five's assault on the world.

The (New) Fantastic Four

Most recently, however, Wolverine joined the Savage Avengers. This unique group included Conan the Barbarian, Venom, Doctor Voodoo, and The Punisher. His time with the Savage Avengers was short-lived, as he left the team after they successfully put down a cult rebellion.

Marvel Comics released two issues featuring Wolverine as a surprising addition to the Fantastic Four lineup.

Wolverine teamed up with The Hulk, Ghost Rider, and Spider-Man to create the All-New Fantastic Four when the original team was temporarily out of the universe. The scab team was replaced when the original team returned. The All-New FF would sometimes join forces to fight the original FF or to partner with Spidey and Wolverine to form a new Fantastic Four. This alliance led to the creation of one of Marvel's Spider-Man 2's new suits.

Alpha Flight

Before the X-Men, Wolverine joined Alpha Flight. The team, a premiere superhero team in Canada, worked at the behest of Department H to defend the Canadian wilderness.

Wolverine's connection with Alpha Flight, Canada's premier superteam, has been tumultuous.

His stint with Alpha Flight was short-lived, as Professor Xavier recruited him to join the X-Men. Despite this, Alpha Flight continued to make appearances over the years, persistently trying to persuade Wolverine to rejoin their ranks.

Team X/Weapon X

Alpha Flight became entangled in the events of the Fall of X, collaborating with Daken, Wolverine’s son, in a covert mission to rescue mutants targeted by Orchis.

Before joining any superhero team, Wolverine was part of Team X, a secretive wet works team that carried out assassinations of high-value targets and performed covert operations for different governments around the world.
