During his exploration of the dangerous underworld planet, Obi-Wan encounters a clone trooper veteran - a former member of the 501st, now reduced to begging on the streets. This poignant moment showcases Obi-Wan's empathy towards the veteran, who may have even participated in Anakin Skywalker's attack on the Jedi Temple.

Lucasfilm has unveiled the complete backstory of a clone trooper veteran in a tragic manner. During the Lucasfilm Publishing Panel at San Diego Comic Con 2023, excerpts were shared from an upcoming reference book called Dawn of Rebellion: The Visual Guide. In one particular section, the clone trooper is identified as "Nax."

In the streets of Daiyu, Nax, a clone trooper who has experienced the hardships of numerous battlefields like Teth, Christophsis, and Umbara, can be found in a state of despair. Due to severe injuries, he has been taken off the frontlines. Unfortunately, Nax's condition has rapidly deteriorated due to the effects of accelerated aging and neglect. As a result, he now pleads with passersby for assistance in the form of credits.

Obi-Wan Kenobi's Clone Trooper Wasn't Part Of Anakin Skywalker's Attack On The Temple

The intriguing backstory unveils that Nax was not involved in Anakin Skywalker's assault on the Jedi Temple. Instead, it appears that he had been discharged long before that event took place. Remarkably, Obi-Wan Kenobi, unaware of this fact, exhibited compassion by providing Nax with credits. It is plausible that Nax himself might have recognized the Jedi General whom he had once served alongside.

Nax's fate serves as a symbol for the entire clone army. Following the Emperor's abandonment, the clones were decommissioned within a year of his rise to power. While they dutifully followed Order 66, there were a significant number of clones who possessed individualistic traits that did not align with the Emperor's preferences.
