Summary
The absence of Galadriel's husband, Celeborn, and their daughter, Celebrian, in The Rings of Power raises concerns and creates a major plot hole for the show.
Fans are speculating about the possibility of Celeborn making a future appearance to address his absence, but it would be more challenging to justify the absence of Celebrian without acknowledging her by name. It is suggested that the show should revise Celebrian's character in order to streamline Galadriel's storyline and keep the main focus on the central conflict with Sauron, even if this entails removing Arwen from the show's timeline.
In The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, there is a significant plot hole that has raised concerns among viewers for its potential growth in season 2. Serving as a prequel to J.R.R. Tolkien's novels, the show follows Galadriel's quest to find Sauron in Middle-earth and restore peace to the realm. However, season 1 concludes with the dramatic revelation that Sauron had been disguised as one of Galadriel's closest friends all along.
While The Rings of Power introduces previously unadapted Tolkien characters, it also leaves out crucial elements from the source material, resulting in a major plot hole. Although this issue is currently manageable, devoted Lord of the Rings fans worry about its potential impact on Galadriel's journey as the story unfolds. Nevertheless, the show never claimed to strictly adhere to Tolkien's works, so there may be a possible solution for them to address this problem.
Galadriel Mentioning Celebrian Would Be Weird After Rings Of Power Season 1

The plot hole revolves around Galadriel's past and her connection with an Elf named Celeborn, prior to The Rings of Power. In the novels and Peter Jackson's film adaptation, Galadriel and Celeborn are a married couple who spend their lives together. However, the Prime Video series does not include Celeborn until the last episode of season 1, where Galadriel reveals that he is presumed dead or missing. Surprisingly, the absence of their daughter, Celebrian, is also unexplained. Fans have theorized that Celeborn may still be alive and will make a future appearance, which could potentially clarify this choice. However, it would be difficult to justify Celebrian's absence, especially since Galadriel does not mention her in her conversation with Halbrand in the season one finale. It seems illogical for The Rings of Power to completely disregard Galadriel's daughter for an entire season, only to mention her in the future. As a result, there is only one logical option for the writers.
Rings Of Power Should Retcon Galadriel's Daughter (Despite Her Being Arwen's Mother)
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has already deviated from Tolkien lore in several ways, making it feasible for the show to alter the character of Celebrian as well. Including her would overly complicate Galadriel's storyline, especially with the potential return of Celeborn, and divert attention from the main conflict with Sauron. While this would also eliminate Arwen, who is Celebrian's daughter, from the show's canon, it is unlikely that she was going to have a significant role anyway. Furthermore, it is evident that this universe is distinctly separate from Peter Jackson's cinematic trilogy.
