Xbox is releasing the Xbox Starter Bundle, which includes an Xbox Series S and a Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

Xbox is continuously expanding its Game Pass offerings by including both popular third-party games and their own first-party titles such as Starfield and Forza Motorsport.

For those interested, the Xbox Starter Bundle provides a complimentary three-month subscription to Game Pass Ultimate. It might be a bit surprising that they opted for the original model instead of the newer 1TB Series S, but it does offer a more affordable starting point.

Microsoft has introduced the Xbox Starter Bundle, which includes an Xbox Series S and a subscription to Game Pass Ultimate. Last month, Xbox released an updated version of the black Xbox Series S with one terabyte of storage, addressing the main downside of the original Series S.

This year, Xbox has expanded its Game Pass offerings with major third-party games like Atomic Heart, Wo-Long: Fallen Dynasty, and the Bloodborne-inspired Pinocchio Soulslike Lies of P. Additionally, Xbox has released some impressive titles from its internal studios, such as Tango Gameworks' Hi-Fi Rush and Ghostwire: Tokyo, as well as Bethesda Game Studios' massive 1,000-planet space exploration RPG Starfield. Most recently, the latest version of Xbox's racing sim, Forza Motorsport, has been launched to positive reviews.

Now, with the holiday season just around the corner, Xbox is introducing the Xbox Starter Bundle, bundling the remarkable Game Pass offering with the Series S. Set to launch on October 31, this bundle will feature the original 512GB Xbox Series S, a wireless Xbox controller, and a three-month subscription to Game Pass Ultimate. Priced at $299, the same as the base price of the 512GB Xbox Series S alone, Xbox is essentially providing three months of Game Pass Ultimate for free as part of this starter bundle.

The prices of game consoles have traditionally decreased over time after their initial release. However, this trend has not been seen with the Xbox Series X or S, even three years after their launch. It is possible that the Series S starter bundle is a subtle price reduction, as it includes a three-month Game Pass Ultimate subscription worth $50. It is still unclear why Xbox did not use the newer 1TB Series S for this bundle. Nevertheless, considering its $349 price, Xbox is likely aiming to offer the most affordable entry point by including the original model.

Gamers who purchase the Xbox Starter Bundle on October 31 or in early November will receive Game Pass Ultimate until the end of January next year. During this time, new subscribers can look forward to the addition of several exciting games to the service, such as Persona 5 Tactica, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Thirsty Suitors, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and potentially Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, among others. It is possible that Xbox will release a similar holiday bundle for its 1TB Series S or even Series X in the future. For now, the Series S Starter Bundle is set to attract attention on the holiday shelves, showcasing the wide range of great games available on Xbox Game Pass.
