Following suit was the remarkable Resident Evil 4 Remake, which did justice to the beloved 2005 game. Amnesia: The Bunker has also garnered significant attention on Xbox Game Pass, while Sons of the Forest delivered a worthy sequel to its predecessor.

Sumo Digital's Texas Chain Saw Massacre game, scheduled to be released in 2023, is highly anticipated. It will be available in stores and on Xbox Game Pass starting August 18. Taking inspiration from Dead By Daylight and Friday the 13th, this asymmetrical multiplayer horror game is based on the 1974 film of the same name. In Texas Chain Saw Massacre, one team of killers, including Leatherface and the cannibalistic Sawyer family, hunts down a team of survivors who are searching for resources to eventually find freedom. What sets this game apart is the large scale of each match, with three killers pursuing four survivors across a vast map.

In October, two eagerly awaited third-person survival horror games will be released. The first is Alan Wake 2, the much-awaited sequel to the 2010 game Alan Wake. It revolves around a mysterious shadow cult, with players assuming the roles of the titular writer and FBI agent Saga Anderson as they investigate the mysteries of Bright Falls. Towards the end of October, Alone in the Dark, a remake of the 1992 horror classic that inspired Resident Evil, will also be released. Alone in the Dark 2023 offers a new third-person camera angle, modern visuals, and features voice performances by Jodie Comer and David Harbour, both well-known Hollywood actors.

The highly anticipated game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, has experienced numerous setbacks, including the developers' involvement in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Despite these challenges, the game is scheduled for release in December 2023, although its timely launch remains uncertain. Nonetheless, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 promises to deliver an exceptional FPS survival horror experience, complete with terrifying mutant creatures to evade.

In addition to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, several other horror games are slated for release in 2023, although specific launch dates have not been announced. Notably, Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 Remake is expected to garner significant attention, featuring a third-person over-the-shoulder perspective reminiscent of recent Resident Evil remakes and the aforementioned Alone in the Dark remake. Another highly anticipated horror release is Slitterhead, created by Keiichiro Toyama, the original Silent Hill creator, offering bone-chilling body horror elements that are sure to terrify players.
