The publishers behind Aliens: Dark Descent have released a new game called Atlas Fallen, where players are immersed in the harsh desert environment and battle against a merciless Sun god. As they assume the role of an unnamed character, players stumble upon a powerful gauntlet buried in the sand, capable of tipping the scales in favor of humanity's survival.
In Atlas Fallen, players are given the opportunity to enhance their abilities and acquire various sets of armor, enabling them to face increasingly demanding challenges. With a total of ten unlockable armor sets, in addition to the initial workwear, players must familiarize themselves with each protective gear in order to optimize their chances of success.
11 Unnamed Workwear
The Unnamed Workwear in Atlas Fallen, though not truly protective armor, deserves mention as it is the initial attire for players venturing into the storyline. Not intended for combat, these garments lack any statistical enhancements for the protagonist's abilities.
Representing the low social standing of the player in Atlas Fallen, the Unnamed Workwear holds significance as a symbol, prompting the Gauntlet Bearer to swiftly transition to a different outfit at the start of the story. The notable aspect of this ensemble is that players can select the accent color for their tunic.
10 Recruit Garments
In order for the Unnamed Gauntlet Bearer to increase their chances of survival against the desert wraiths, it is essential that they acquire suitable protective equipment. Although the Recruit Garments may not be extraordinary, they serve as a solid foundation for players to familiarize themselves with the game.
Obtaining the Recruit Garments requires no additional effort on the part of players as they are given to them during the course of the story mission. Once the introductory phase concludes and the Gauntlet Bearer embarks on their quest, they will be equipped with this armor.
9 Purger's Warsuit
The Purger's Warsuit is a step up from beginner's armor, offering enhanced protection against the dangers of the desert. It is designed to prioritize recovery, allowing players to regenerate health at a faster rate. This is further enhanced by the armor's unique trait, which boosts the effectiveness of Idols when used while below 50% health.
Obtaining the Purger's Warsuit is relatively straightforward, but players must have enough tributes to purchase the outfit. To unlock this set of protective gear, visit the Traveling Vendor in Castrem Seven and make the necessary purchase.
8 Scout's Gear
The Scout Gear is a formidable armor set for aggressive players, providing a significant boost to their attacking power as Gauntlet Bearers. Equipping two Momentum Essence Stones will further enhance offensive capabilities by nine points, making it ideal for those seeking a more offensive playstyle.
Players may easily overlook the Scout's Gear, as it is the first armor set that can be missed while focusing on completing the main storyline. However, its unique feature of reducing the cooldown of active Essence Stones makes obtaining it well worth the effort. To acquire this set, players must successfully complete the "The History of Shattered Keep" side mission.
7 Knight's Plate
The Knight's Plate armor set, bestowed upon players by the rejuvenated Knights of Bastengar, serves as a symbol of trust and camaraderie. This highly defensive gear grants an additional nine points to the defense stat, provided the player possesses at least two Trick Essence Stones.
One notable feature of the Knight's Plate is its ability to grant a minor advantage in combat. When enemies inflict damage, they will experience a one-second slowdown, offering players a crucial edge. To access this benefit, completion of the main story mission "The Path to Bastengar" is required.
6 Deadeye's Attire
The Deadeye's Attire set in Atlas Fallen is the most versatile armor set, providing players with a balanced boost in all areas affected by armor. Unlike previous sets, it also allows players to enhance three different stats by fulfilling Essence Stone requirements.
By equipping two Survivability Essence Stones, players can increase their offensive rating by 11 points, and further improve both Fortune and Shatter by six points with three Damage Essence Stones. Moreover, this set's unique trait enables players to generate a decent amount of momentum while using the Knuckle Dust weapon. Unlocked by progressing through the main story, "From Belief to Trust" rewards players with this remarkable armor set.
5 Preacher's Guard
The Preacher's Guard is an all-around armor set that is particularly advantageous for players who wield the Sandwhip as their weapon of choice. Its special ability allows for a slight chance of weakening the defensive capabilities of enemies for a duration of five seconds when performing the Sandwhip's combination attack.
To obtain this armor set, players must progress through the main storyline and complete the mission titled "The City of the Sun." Additionally, there are optional bonuses that can enhance its versatility. By acquiring two Healing Essence Stones, Recovery is boosted by 12, while two Momentum Essence Stones increase Fortune by 12.
4 Red Company
The Red Company armor set is a step above ordinary protective wear, offering a level of defense that borders on elite. It is designed to aid players as they face increasingly powerful adversaries lurking in the sands. One of its noteworthy features is its ability to replenish some of the Idol's energy when wielded alongside the Dunecleaver's Hammer.
While defense is the primary focus of the Red Company armor, players can enhance their recovery by 16 by equipping two Momentum Essence Stones. Additionally, three Tricks Essence Stones can boost their Shatter ability by 15. This set is highly valuable and should not be overlooked. It is advisable for players to promptly visit the vendor in the Mining Village in order to acquire it.
3 Rite of the Mire
The Rite of the Mire armor set in Atlas Fallen is undeniably one of the most visually striking sets. Not only does it look impressive, but it also excels in performance. This armor set is particularly effective for offensive gameplay and becomes even more potent when facing enemies who are crystallized or slowed down.
For players looking to enhance their defense, equipping three Survivability Essence Stones will add an additional 15 points to their defense rating. On the other hand, those who want to boost their already high Fortune rating can do so by equipping three Momentum Essence Stones, which will increase it by a further 21 points. To obtain this remarkable armor set, players must complete the "Ancient Armor" side quest in the Citadel.
2 Queen's Cover
The armor that represents the Thousand-Year Queen, regardless of players' opinions on her reign, is one of the top-rated sets in Atlas Fallen. With the highest recovery rating in the game, this armor allows players to regenerate their health more effectively than any other. Additionally, the Queen's Cover unique trait provides a small chance for players to create a healing area for themselves and their allies for five seconds whenever they land hits with their weapon.
To obtain this armor set, players must progress through a significant portion of Atlas Fallen's main story. However, once they reach the necessary narrative milestone, acquiring the armor is straightforward. Simply visit the vendor in the Knights' Camp of the Citadel and purchase the equipment.
1 Perennial Mantle
As the popular saying goes, having a strong defense is the key to a successful offense, a principle that holds true in the world of Atlas Fallen. The Perennial Mantle stands out with the highest defensive rating in the game, making it a crucial choice for players who face tough adversaries and ultimate challenges found in the desert. To maximize the potential of this armor set, players can enhance their offensive abilities by equipping Damage Essence Stones, and improve their healing potential by using Healing Essence Stones.
By completing the final main story quest, "The City of the Sun," players can unlock the defense-focused Perennial Mantle. This unique armor not only provides exceptional protection but also possesses a special trait that reduces the damage taken during combat, further safeguarding players.
Atlas Fallen is now available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
